JVC HD52G587 Overview

The JVC Demo HD-52G587 52" HD-ILA Rear Projection is powered by the same Direct-drive Image Light Amplifier (D-ILA) microchips employed by JVC's digital cinema video projectors. HD-ILA micro-displays are the brightest televisions you've ever seen. JVC mastered this highly sophisticated form of 3-chip, vertically oriented liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) technology, thus enabling them to develop this high contrast, flicker-free magic.

Innovations like 4th Generation Digital Image Scaling Technology (D.I.S.T.) contribute to one of the most life-like pictures available for the home theater experience. Audio features are abundant you can even use the built-in speakers as a center channel for a surround sound system. A full complement of standard goodies includes every convenience you've come to expect including Component Video ports, PC input and an HDMI port.

3-Chip D-ILA System
The video is vivid and crystal clear with a compact pixel structure; it's almost impossible to see the individual picture elements with the naked eye. Forget about the dreaded Rainbow Effect of DLP or the Screen Door Effect of some other fixed-pixel displays.
High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
A single thin cable carries both high-quality digital audio and video. HDMI is the only interface that can deliver uncompressed high-definition video plus multi-channel audio in all formats.
D.I.S.T.
Digital Image Scaling Technology (D.I.S.T.) makes even standard definition broadcasts look sharp and clean on this high-definition D-ILA.
Digital 5-Point Color Management
HD-ILA incorporates a 5-Point Color Management System which compensates for the limited colors of broadcasts meant for CRT TVs. The five reference colors are sampled and automatically adjusted so that they are reproduced with their original purity.
Natural Cinema (3-2 Pull Down)
Natural Cinema (3-2 pull down) tries to compensate for this by filtering and smoothing out the jagged edges where vertical lines are involved in movement.
Advanced Hyper Surround Sound (AHS)
Creating a rich 3-D environmental effect without employing real rear speakers, "virtual speakers" emerge from stereo audio signals; accomplished through the manipulation of phase relationships and frequency responses to psycho-acoustically trick the ear and brain.
Single Tuner PIP with Twin Mode, Index and Freeze
Twin mode lets you view two video sources in same-sized windows side by side on the screen. Index helps you search for programs by scanning available channels consecutively in 12 screen windows of freeze mode pictures.
V-Chip
Parents! You can prevent your children from viewing programs which might be inappropriate with the help of V-Chip technology. Use password protection to block or allow shows based on the American or Canadian ratings system.
Auto Clock Set
Thanks to the XDS time signal provided by most public broadcasting stations your television always knows what time it is, and even automatically switches between standard time and daylight savings time.
Smart Caption
This feature automatically turns on the closed captions (if available) when the audio MUTE button is pressed. The captions then disappear when the sound volume is restored. Without ever having to hunt for the Caption menu, all you have to do is tap one button to mute the volume and you can instantly follow the action silently, reading the dialog presented by the captions on-screen.
Sleep Timer
The Sleep Timer turns the television off automatically. The shut down can be up to three hours delayed to a time you set in fifteen minute intervals. You can rest assured that when you fall asleep watching TV you won't be wasting electricity or disturbing other family members.
