This Counterweight from Manfrotto is designed to attach to the pre-existing weight included with the 809 & 816 Salon Stands. The additional 4.2 lb added by the inclusion of this additional weight allows the stand to counterbalance heavier loads and create smooth vertical arm movements. Additionally, the weight is constructed of solid steel and features a 3/8"-16 male connection screw for securely attaching to the stand's original, integrated counterweight.

I ordered this to be used on an older Bogen version of the 806/Mini-Salon camera stand (6 tall). The diameter of this counterweight is about 2.5 inches, whereas the tube on the older stand is about 2, so it wont fit. I have a lathe, so it was no problem to turn it down to the proper dimension. It works fine now and gives me the needed counterweight for a heavier tripod head and Cambo view camera.
Personally use this weight to add weight onto certain areas of a camera, excellent 3/8 design thread with one female and male end on both sides.
