This Tele Vue DIOPTRX Adapter converts the 24mm and 19mm Panoptic and the 20m Nagler Type-5 eyepiece to a larger eyeguard size, allowing DIOPTRX-series astigmatism correctors to be installed. Note that these eyepieces have shorter eye relief than others recommended for DIOPTRX, so to minimize any vignetting, it's best to use these for deep-sky applications where your eye pupil is large.

The DIOPTRIX astigmatism correcting lens allows those with astigmatic vision to enjoy the sharpest viewing experience they've ever had, without using their glasses.

    DIOPTRX Adapter for 24mm & 19mm Panoptic & 20m Nagler Type-5 Eyepieces is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Well Made Necessity for many of us, but Grossly Overpriced I've reached the point where astigmatism has become a critical factor in my observing. Trying to observe thru bifocals is an exercise in futility, as far as I'm concerned. Uncle Al's DIOPTRX corrector lenses are a GODSEND... I can now observe without my glasses! The DIOPTRX is expensive, but well worth the cost... as a bonus, the DIOPTRX can be quickly and easily transferred from one eyepiece to another, even in the darkness of an observing site. However, there's a fly in the ointment here; my beloved Panoptics and 20mm Nagler EACH require the installation of an adapter ring for the DIOPTRX correctors to be used... at $30.00 per ring. To make it even MORE interesting... I'm an eyepiece junkie. I have LOTS of Televue glass that requires the installation of adapter rings. To top it off... I'm into BINOVIEWING. So multiply the number of rings required by two... I bit the bullet, and my 19mm and 24mm Panoptic bino pairs are now DIOPTRX ready, as are my 11mm Nagler Type 6 pair. That in itself is, I think, a pretty powerful testament to how valuable I find the benefits of the DIOPTRX. So far... my extensive (and expensive) glass collection has consumed $240 worth of these pricey little rings... and I'm nowhere near done with outfitting everything that needs them; I'm just getting started. To be fair... the DIOPTRX is a relatively new development, coming well after the introduction of the Panoptic series, the 20mm Nagler, and the Type 6 Naglers (which also require a different adapter ring, at the same price). Newer, post DIOPTRX eyepiece lines are designed to not need the adapters; DIOPTRX will mount on them directly. I realize that ANY hand machining operation can get expensive real fast, but the automated CAD machining techniques used to turn out these simple little rings drastically cuts the production costs. I'll probably gradually outfit ALL of my Televue glass with rings as it becomes necessary or desirable, but it's a major cost hit.
