Middle Atlantic SECL-3 Overview

This SECL-3 Hinged 3U Plexiglas Security Cover from Middle Atlantic is a special clear security door that can protect the equipment in your rack while still allowing you to view it when the door is closed. This unit features a steel frame and a key-locked 3/16" smoked gray plexiglas door. It has a depth of 1-1/2" that is sufficient to clear the front controls on most equipment.

I want to use this to cover some audio gear mounted in 19" rack mount cases. I want to make sure the settings of knobs and switches are not disturbed. But the cover doesn't work, as is. A 1U rack space has 3 holes. This cover is only drilled for the top and bottom hole of each set of 3 holes. Of course my equipment, which is in a 3U chassis, mounts using the 3 middle holes of the (3) 1U spaces. I will have to drill those 6 holes in the frame of this cover to be able to use it. However, the cover and its frame are both built nice and heavy. It is deep enough to clear all the controls on my equipment when the plastic door is shut. The lids of my rack cases just barely clear the hinge along the bottom edge, but they do fit on and latch down OK even when this is installed on the bottom 3U. If it had the other holes, it would be 5 stars.

Perhaps a little pricey for what it does, but is does cover 3U of equipment and electronics from dust and unintended button pushing. I use it on my home computer server, router, network storage, and UPS rack (15U). Overall, pleased enough to get another for this rack after getting a 4U version for a different equipment rack.

Its not water tight, but it keeps the novice user from getting access to the controls. My job has gotten much easier since I installed these.
