I've tried a few DIY ceiling rail solutions and although it's pricey Manfrotto's rails and accessories are hard to beat. They hold a lot more weight, don't flex, and the ball bearings on this carriage make it roll smoothly.
Added this to an off brand track system

I took a chance that this might work on my old off brand track system. The wheels are slightly larger than ideal, but it works. My ceiling is low and I wanted my beauty dish strobe as high as possible. So I mounted it directly to this carriage with no scissors jack. Works great.
