JVC HA-NC250 overview

  • 1Description

The HA-NC250 headphones from JVC offer terrific sound quality and noise-cancelling capabilities in a lightweight and comfortable design. The adjustable, padded headband and cushioned earcups let you listen for hours with comfort. The memory foam ear cushions help to naturally block out external noises, and active noise-cancelling technology helps to reduce noise by up to 85%. The noise-cancelling feature works for hours on a single AAA battery. If desired, the headphones can be used without power as a normal set of headphones without noise-cancellation.

The headphones have 40mm neodymium drivers for high-quality sound reproduction with a wide frequency response. The single-sided cable can also be detached, allowing you to block out noise without music. The standard 3.5mm mini plug is compatible with a variety of devices, and 1/4" and airplane adapters are included so you can connect anywhere you like on the ground or in the air. The headphones fold flat to pack neatly into the included carrying case for convenient storage and travel.

    JVC HA-NC250 reviews

    HA-NC250 Stereo Noise-Cancelling Headphones is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value and really work I am a semi-pro sound engineer running live sound at my church and other local venues. At times I need to monitor a specific source and not have ambient sound interfering. These worked great. The sound from the bass amp was loud enough for me to feel, yet I could monitor a vocal or piano source clearly. The noise cancelling works best at lower frequencies like the background sound of HVAC. I think they would work very well in airplanes. They do not totally cut out voices. At 1/3 the cost of Bose, I am very happy. I also like the ability to switch the noise cancelling off and use them as regular headphones. Excellent sound quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cancel out the choo-choo! I bought these phones to listen to music and podcasts on my iPhone while train commuting. It's a terrific set of headphones with good clear bass response. The noise-cancelling can be turned on and off with a switch located on one earpiece. While it doesn't completely cancel out the noise (trains can be really noisy!), it does a good enough job that one can easily concentrate on the audio and 'lose' the extraneous sounds. The unit folds flat and comes in a zipable semi-hard case. I also record voiceover auditions with my iPhone while traveling (using the terrifice iRig mic), and the JVC makes a handy set of ears for that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good phones for the money I would call these noise REDUCING, not noise canceling headphones. But they are really comfortable, reasonably priced, and work well. The cable is a tad bit short, but one can always purchase a replacement.I use these to reduce the amount of noise in my workplace while I grade audio assignments. The sound quality is really quite transparent, neither adding or taking away characteristics inherent in the sound. unplugging and monitoring through my computer sound system, or even the Event Studio 20 20Ps in the main room, I'm not hearing any drastic changes in frequency. Good enough!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for Classical Music Lovers I get this product to listen to my Android phone on the road to work. It has a good balanced frequency response. Noise reduction function is OK. It was defined as 85% noise reduction. That's quite acceptable for comfort. However, there is one important thing I have to mention. Especially it is seen while listening to classical music. When noise cancellation is ON, there is a problem of sound quality especially at medium frequencies while listening to instruments like piano or cello. Their timbre are not clean and are distorted. When the noise cancellation is turned OFF, the timbre of the notes become better. I do not recommend this phone to classical music lovers. Since it has an on-the-ear design after a long (ten hours plae trip) it may be uncomfortable to wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from JVC HA-NC250 Great for the price I bought these for my wife mainly for long airplane flights. I already have a pair I bought 6 years ago and I am very happy with them, they have worn well. They have solid noise cancelling, probably around 70% of aircraft noise. Features I like are: (1) use AAA battery, not rechargeable, so when flat just swap in a spare battery I always carry. (2) still work when battery is flat, but obviously no noise cancelling. (3) nice case with handy mesh pocket that stores the connectors and cable when packed away. Bose are probably still the best but at 3 times the price of JVC I could not justify the slightly better sound quality and NC. Note these are not wireless capable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear sound and comfortable I compared three sets of headphones by listening to them each for a couple of days and decided to buy this one. The other two were both Sony: - MDR-NC40 Noise-Cancelling Dynamic Stereo Headphones by Sony - MDR-NC60 - Noise-Cancelling Stereo Headphones by Sony I found the sound quality on the NC40's to be sub-standard, when compared to the other two. So that pair was out. It was a close call between these JVCs and the NC60 - but ultimately decided to go with the JVCs: the sound quality was basically identical - but I find the physical fit of the JVCs to be more comfortable. I really like these!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed, geat buy I have had to throw away a number of headphones with permanently attached cords that plug into an mp3. The problem is always that the cord breaks down, usually around the plug, so I only get sound in one ear. This headphone sounds great and has a cord that detaches, and I presume that it can be replaced. So the headphones should last much longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from disappointed I purchased these cans based on several positive reviews and a reasonable price. They looked good out of the box and came with a nice case. However the buzzing, hum of the active noise-cancellation was too much for my ears. I expect silence during the silent parts. They might be okay on a roaring plane ride but not for less extreme situations. The background noise from active noise-cancelling technology is a ironic downer. I would suggest listening before buying any active set. Personally I am off to purchase a set with passive noise-cancelling such as the B&W P5 or Sennheiser HD 25 1 ii.
