Sibelius SCEM5 Overview

Sibelius 5 from Sibelius is a fully featured and complete software solution for writing, playing, printing and publishing music notation. From its clear design through all of the deep tools, the software has been designed to be easy to use, save time, produce professional looking scores, publish music world-wide, and create CDs.

Designed for every kind of musician, from students and teachers to professional composers, the software includes features such as preset score templates, multiple entry methods, automatic real-time part extraction, video support and the ability to customize all of these features to produce scores that range from early music to the most modern.

Enhancements over the previous version of Sibelius include an "Ideas Bin" which allows the user to save snippets of musical ideas into a central location, tag them with descriptions, key signature etc., or color code them. These can then be recalled later for other projects. A new sample player and support for VSTi and Audio Units virtual instruments allow even better playback of scores.

A Panorama view, easy cue creation, complete layout control and over forty enhancements elevate the software to greater heights, without adding complexity and bloat. Exporting audio for use in CD creation, and over seventy plug-ins that automate tasks or correct inaccuracies, have been carried over from the previous version.

Note:
This pricing is per seat, with a minimum purchase of 11-seats. The educational discount requires proof of current educational status and is available only to fully accredited K-12, College, or University institutions in North/South America.
Easy to use, score generating software with scanning and playback features
Over one hundred score templates are ready for instant use
Templates can be edited or custom made from scratch
Note input can be either using a mouse and clicking on the score, entered from the computer keyboard, via a MIDI device or any combination of all three
"Ideas Hub" allows the user to capture, use and re-use snippets of music that may not be required immediately. Tapping a key stores the idea in the Ideas Hub, where it can be tagged or color coded
Over 2,000 ready-made ideas are included in the Ideas Hub, ideal for teaching applications
"Panorama" is a clearer way of viewing music in Sibelius - instead of being chopped up into systems and pages, the music is shown in a single, infinitely-wide strip, making it easier to read and navigate around. Layout can then be performed when the score is finished
Allows for up to 20,000 undo operations
Sibelius includes PhotoScore Lite, a program for scanning printed music. Once a page is read, it can be edited, played back, parts extract and printed
Puts different types of text, such as dynamics, titles and lyrics in the appropriate font, size and position
Arrange is a feature to help with arranging and orchestration, ideal for students learning instrumental writing and saves hours of time for experienced professionals. The user selects some music, specifies how it should be arranged or orchestrated and the software does the rest in an instant, using appropriate instruments, doubling, etc. It handles anything from keyboard reductions and "exploding" chords onto separate staves, to sophisticated arrangement and orchestration styles
The software will spot all kinds of mistakes such as rhythms that don't add up, or notes that are too high/low to play. Sibelius knows every instrument's range, which can be adjusted for players of different abilities
Dynamic Parts saves having to extract parts from a full score. As soon as a new score is started, all the parts are already there. As music is added to the full score, the relevant parts appear and whatever is done in the score instantly updates in the parts. Or the user can write music in the parts and the score will change to match. Things can also be changed in the parts without affecting the score, such as adding cues
Creating cues is a easy as copying the music required for a cue, and then using "Paste As Cue". The software makes the cue small, puts it in a suitable voice, transposes it or changes clef as necessary, optionally deletes dynamics and articulations adds a text label, hides the cue in the score, and stops it playing back. However, if required, the user still retains full control over how the cue finally appears
Sibelius Sounds Essentials is a built-in sample library including over 150 pitched and hundreds of percussion sounds, covering a wide range of orchestral, rock and pop, jazz and marching band instruments, plus the full General MIDI set
Sibelius Sounds Essentials plays back the score using Kontakt Player 2. The player can play any number of sounds simultaneously (limited only by computer's CPU), loads them almost instantly, and has extra built-in effects
Users can specify exactly how articulations, lines, tremolos and symbols play back - for example, to change the length and loudness of accents and staccatos, the speed of tremolos, or how fast chords with wiggly arpeggio lines are spread. Hairpins automatically translate into dynamic changes and sustained notes get continuously louder or softer along the hairpin
Supports use of VSTi or Audio Units instruments
With a single click of a button, the software will output an audio file that can be used for burning CDs (CD authoring software not included.)
Sibelius supports video playback at different sizes and also will insert hit-points to mark important visual events
Sibelius comes with more than seventy "plug-in" features which do useful things to a score, including amongst others, checking for mistakes, adding brass fingering and generating drum patterns
Makes scores look professional by automatically applying hundreds of subtle music engraving rules to optimize every aspect of the score's appearance. User changes are supported
