Manfrotto Mini Backlite Stand Reviews

Simple and Useful

There isn't much to this stand, but it does the job well. I bought 2 to hold my backlighting and they've done the job well. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick simple stand.

Makes for Great Catchlights

I found that when using a posing stool for subjects, mounting a flash bracket with Speedlight and a 27 umbrella down on the floor on this Mini Light Stand, enables me to get nicely positioned catchlights that are in just the right area of the eye. My regular lightstands just weren't getting low enough.

This is a solid little unit. Great addition to my light stand bag for setting my light head in a tight space

It does what it was supposed to do!

I use the stand to hold a studio flash and softbox on the floor. The stand's weight holds the light and softbox securely without tipping. I works!

Perfect for limited space and needing a strong little stand!

Doesn't work with umbrella adapters

The baby pin is not standard and causes the umbrella adapters you use with Speedlites to tilt improperly and sit at about a 20 degree angle. Just poor design. Solid build otherwise. Works for Photogenic strobes it seems.

Remarkable Product

This stand is so portable since it folds up into a tiny size. It also allows a backlight to be close to the floor for maximim effect. It is also very strong for its size. I will use it for table top product photography too. It is worth the price.

question

Would this stand accept a basic speedlight? Or is the connector best for strobes?
Asked by: Rachel M.
The connector is made for strobes. You would need an adapter and then it would be fine.

Does this actually have 3/8 -16 female thread on the spigot? I've seen some photos with and some without.
