The boom arm of the Manfrotto 420B Combi Boom Stand (Black) does not detach from the stand, but it can be rotated so that it becomes part of a regular stand, with no boom arm.

The Manfrotto 420B Combi Boom Stand (Black) has a max height of 12'; the boom arm itself is 72". Be advised, articulating the boom arm straight up to make a taller stand is not the recommended use case for this type of stand.
