DVD: Training: The Best of Dean Collins on Lighting is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dean Collins DVD's The information he has is very good, although he spoke so fast that I would get lost, consequently I became frustrated with the DVD's. The 4th DVD would not play in my mac whereas the others would. I am trying to learn Table Top Photography for product and learning lighting is absolutely essential. I will listen again and probably again, but I feel this product was over priced. Probably would have done better with Dean if he had written a book. He was outstanding with his lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was all I needed A newbie who wants to know how the picture was created will ask what camera was used. A pro will ask what the lighting set up was. My work is mostly studio lighting, and this is the perfect series for that, covering a large number of studio scenarios applicable to small to large budgets. He also goes beyond that to cover location shoots using various numbers of light sources, along with many creative approaches to achieve what's desired. For the beginning photographer, supplementing this video with a book covering basic principles like f-stops and focal lengths is enough for someone to pick up everything else they know to an advanced photography level. For a mid-level photographer who understands all the fundamentals, this series will probably reveal tips and tricks that are worth the price, and provide a solid point of view on what to do in a wide variety of situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good explanation and detailed setup The 4 DVDs covers a good variety of studio shooting assignments. Dean Collins shares many tips and tricks of the trade. Althought it is dated, but many of the lighting principles and concepts are still valid. This is a good buy, I will recommend it. Especially Disc-4 for beginners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dean Collins can help you become great My photography went from being good to sometimes great and occassionally awsome after I went to a Dean Collins seminar while he was alive. He will teach you things that nobody else can and that will make your work jump out of the frame. If you are serious about becoming a great photographer, this can help you more than anything else I know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Lighting Course Ever It is a shame that Dean Collins passed away so young. I have been in the industry for 35 years, these DVD's (VHS by the time I bought them 1990 ) are the best photographic instructional videos ever. 3D contrast it's explained in a very simple way. The videos might look old, but light principles haven't changed. Great videos! A must have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly the Best of Dean Collins A rich and rewarding presentation from one of the greats in photography. Dean Collin s presents information in a very simple to understand fashion. The best part is that one think about each section's information long after you view it so that you are truly absorbing his view on lighting.
