Bower SFD728 overview

  • 1Description

The Bower SFD728 Autofocus TTL Flash is a dedicated shoe-mount flash with i-TTL exposure metering capabilities for Nikon cameras. The flash features a guide number of 92' at ISO 100 and a TTL range of 45.9' for automatic control of the flash output. The four-position zoom head covers a focal length range between 28mm and 85mm and a 0-90° bounce and 330° swivel design enables extensive head positioning capabilities.

An infrared AF assist beam is integrated into the flash's design to promote faster focusing in low-light conditions and an intelligent auto-check light is also available to confirm if the subject is within TTL range. Red-eye reduction and second/rear-curtain sync modes are also available, as well as slow synchronization mode, when used with supported cameras.

Full TTL dedication available for Nikon cameras.
Four-position zoom head covers focal lengths between 28mm and 85mm.
Bounce adjustment of 0-90° and a horizontal swivel of up to 330° enable a wide variety of flash head movements.
An AF assist beam, up to 26', aids in focusing during low-light situations.
Flash duration is 1/700 sec. at full power.
5600K color temperature helps to balance flash output with other daylight-balanced light sources.

    Bower SFD728 reviews

SFD728 Autofocus TTL Flash for Nikon Cameras is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Entry-Level Flash I'm not very experienced in photography, but I do know that the stock flash on my Nikon D60 doesn't meet my needs. This external flash from Bower does pretty well, allowing me to set the angle of light appropriate to the shot I'm trying to get without washing out my subject in too much light. I haven't used the flash extensively yet, but so far, my only complaint is that it tends to shut off automatically pretty easily. As in, I can't set the camera down for 5 min, pick it up again, and have the flash ready to go: I have to turn off the flash and turn it back on again. A minor quibble in my view, but still, a quibble.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Budget Alternative I rarely use a flash so I did not want to spend hundreds on something I would rarely carry or use. Nevertheless, this flash is simple to operate in TTL and manual mode, and it has a lot of power. Also, it is adjustable; view angle, pan direction, and elevation. Not so great is the construction. Cheap plastic, flimsy switch, and plastic mount. But hey, it's a budget flash under $. Overall this budget flash is a great value if you want more power than your camera flash on the cheap.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bower SFD728 Flash Nice simple, inexpensive external flask for a Nikon DSLR. The only draw back its beam is not wide enough for the standard zooms shipped on these cameras. They go to 18mm and the flash is 28mm, leaving dark corners in the pictures. It would be nice if it came with a diffuser. By the way, the B&H price beat all the sellers on a well known auction site.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the price Great for the price and works a-lot better then I thought it would. I use it on me D5000 and love the Photo's I'm getting only down side I have is it does not work with my 500mm Manual Lens and that is my fault for not reading more and the lens before buying. All in all I would recommend this Flash to someone that is working on a small budget and needs to start somewhere with a good flash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flash for my Nikon D90 I have a Nikon D90 that's 4 months old. Now my pictures are more dynamic and brighter when I have an indoor situation. It is much more powerful than the standard, included flash and this flash is SO easy to use. Just slide it on, insert the batteries and take pictures. The pics are much more vivid and bright, especially when the subject is 20-40 feet away. A must for even an amateur photographer. You spend $40 on a picture card, spend $ on this flash and you'll be even happier with your pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect simple i needed something to help take night shots of people and not blind them

Rated 2 out of 5 by from TTL Flash by Bower, Nikon Compatible This is a nice flash if you need just a small amount of light at a close range. Horrible in the dark. On the flip side, this flash does very well in an indoor setting at a close range to your subject. Overall review: 2 stars
