Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 Overview

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 Digital Camera can produce images with an astounding 12-megapixel resolution. It has a top quality Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens in an incredibly compact and sleek metal camera body. Plus the camera has a large, 2.5-inch LCD screen and a traditional, eye-level viewfinder for easy image framing in all light conditions. The camera's Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization system safeguards against blurring caused by camera shake, and the high sensitivity (up to ISO6400) settings can help to fight blurring associated with fast-moving subjects.

The Bionz processing engine delivers the fast image processing speeds needed. This helps to produce color rich, detailed pictures for true high-definition photo viewing. It also provides the procesing power for a host of camera features intended to improve your photography. Some of these image enhancing features include Face Detection technology, Dynamic Range Optimizer and the Multi-point auto focus (AF) feature. The Bionz engine also helps to speed up the camera's response times and extend battery life.

The Cyber-shot DSC-W200 incorporates in-camera editing functions that can save you hours of post-editing time at the computer including red-eye correction and retouching effects. You can also create artistic photos with the soft edge filter, partial color filter, cross filter, and the fish-eye filter (for an amusing fishbowl effect). The built-in slideshow function lets you play back your images with pans, fades and wipe transitions set to your choice of music clips. High-definition Photo Viewing is also possible with an optional high-definition component cable or cyber-shot Station.

12.1 Megapixel Super HAD CCD
The advanced Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD of the DSC-W920 provides an incredible 12.1 megapixels of resolution for images with detail and definition to make big prints or crop in tight on your subject. Furthermore, The Super HAD CCD allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise
Carl Zeiss 3X Optical Zoom Lens
The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens provides a 3x optical zoom to bring distant subjects closer and lets you frame shots quickly for better composition. There is also a 18X Smart Zoom feature that intelligently "crops into" the central portion of your photo, and a 2x Digital Zoom to provide even further flexibility in framing and shooting your images.
MPEG Movie VX Fine Mode
The DSC-W200 lets you capture VGA (640 x 480) video clips with sound at high frame rate of up to 30 frames per second, with the clip length limited only by the capacity of your media.
Face Detection
The Face Detection system incorporated into the DSC-W200 automatically controls focus, exposure, color and flash, to reveal faces in shadow, makes skin tones look more natural and eliminate harsh facial glare.
Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization
The DSC-W200 incorporates Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization, which compensates for shaky hands and minimizes blur by utilizing optical sensors that detect camera movement and compensates for that movement with a stabilization lens element.
Ultra-High-Sensitivity Mode
The Camera is capable of producing images in very low light thanks to the ultra high ISO Sensitivity of the camera. At a resolution selection of 3 megapixels or less, an incredible ISO 6400 sensitivity is available and ISO up to 3200 is available at all other resolution selections. Furthermore the exclusive Sony Clear RAW Noise Reduction system minimizes image noise typically created at such high sensitivity levels so your pictures are clear, sharp and beautiful - even in low light.
D-Range Optimization
Powered by the exclusive Sony Bionz high-speed processing engine, D-range optimization preserves image data in bright highlights and reveals more detail in shadows or backlit areas to provide great results even in difficult lighting conditions.
31MB Internal Memory
The DSC-W200 allows you to capture images without a memory card, making it great for traveling and candid snapshots. However, the camera also has a built-in slot for optional Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo media (sold separately), that can support capacities of up to 8GB to store literally thousands of images.
Large 2.5" LCD Screen and Optical Viewfinder
The DSC-W200 includes a large, 2.5" LCD screen for composing shots, checking results, sharing your photos on location and reading camera setup menus, and the display is bright enough to be viewable even in full sunlight. The camera also includes a zoom viewfinder for when more precision image framing is called for.
Simple Setup Controls
With a quick press of the Home button, the DSC-W200 camera opens the user-friendly user interface so you can select functions by simply moving a cursor vertically or horizontally to the appropriate icon. Furthermore, an on-screen Function Guide makes it easy to learn the camera functions by providing a simple text explanation of each camera setting, right on the LCD screen.
In-Camera Retouching and Red-Eye Reduction
The DSC-W200 has a range of in-camera editing effects available to customize your images. Built in image effects include a soft edge filter to soften backgrounds, a cross filter to place starry "dazzles" at highlight points, a partial color filter to mute surrounding colors and a fish-eye filter to create interesting results. There is also a built-in red-eye reduction feature that reduces irritating "glowing eyes" that can ruin even the most creative photos.
Enjoy High-definition Photo Viewing (requires optional accessories)
The DSC-W200 Camera can produce High-definition output compliant with the 1080i protocol with the optional Sony VMC-MHC1 high-definition component cable for simple connection to an HDTV set, or the optional Sony CSS-HD1 high-definition Cyber-shot Station, which comes with the component cable, and will also charge the camera battery.
HD Slide Show with Music
View your photos in spectacular HD clarity and detail with direct HD (high definition) output to compatible HDTV screens, then watch as your photos come alive, accompanied by your choice of visual effects and any of four preset musical selections stored in memory or your favorite MP3 tunes downloaded from PC to your camera for use as background music.
Stamina Battery Power
The included rechargeable NP-BG1 Lithium Ion Battery provides sufficient power to capture 270 shots on a full charge. That's enough power to cover a long weekend or a whole vacation without needing to recharge.
Includes Picture Motion Browser Software
The supplied Picture Motion Browser software makes it easy to upload, organize and search photos on your PC, and provides a convenient map view function to sort photos by location and display their origin on a world map by using an optional GPS unit.
