Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good price, nice and handy Im not sure what this product is originally intended for, but I use it as a mount for top-down videos of my desk or tabletop. You can mount it to a c-stand and then mount your camera to the 1/4-20 camera screw knob. It holds my GH4 nice and sturdy and allows me to record what I am doing on my desk, like unboxing, soldering, etc. I believe this camera platform can also be used for other things too, like attaching flash units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Excellent piece of equipment strong enough to securely mount a large DSLR on a Magic Arm and a Super Clamp, or 5/8 baby pin or any other 5/8 mounting. Also very useful as a mount for anything with a 1/4-20 female thread, like LED continuous lights. Very high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and Versitile I use this with various bogen arms. It's a pretty solid piece and the 3 holes allows me to put various other things like studs or umbrellas through them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A handy compliment for the Magic Arm This is a very handy compliment for the Magic Arm. I plan to use the super clamp, the Magic Arm and this platform to support a Nikon D700 behind the backboard during basketball pratice. I need to become more confident it will support the D700 before shooting a game. I used this combination in my home studio, and it proved to be very sturdy and strong enough to hold the Nikon D3 using the Magic arm and super clamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid platform I use this platform to hold my D-600 attached to a magic arm behind the glass of a basketball backboard. This holds the camera firmly without fear of it crashing to the floor. The only negative is the tightening bolt and wheel. They are hard to tighten firmly without using a tool; and to loosen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good add on I love the magic arm from Manfrotto. It has so many uses. This camera platform works on both versions of the currently available arm (the 143 and 244). In combination with the magic arm and the super clamp I can use this in places where tripods are not allowed (thanks to Scott Kelby for pointing this out and prompting my purchase of this camera platform). It is very well made. I debated getting the version that would let me use the RC2 quick release plate, but I couldn't justify the price difference, plus it looks like that one is actually permanently attached to a magic arm which reduces the utility of the arm in my eyes. Maybe if I save up some extra cash I invest in one of those as well, but in the mean time I am plenty happy with this platform when partnered with the magic arm and super clamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A platform above the rest! I use this with the two below items to make a portable, compact, covert travel tripod. You can take it into places the conventional tripod isn't allowed. Also small enough to fit in a small camera bag to setup a tripod for low level shooting. Many applications that you can use this on. Good idea to pick these two with this: 244N Variable Friction Magic Arm by Manfrotto 003 Backlight Stand, Black - Base with Spigot by Manfrotto

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid Saw this and immediately recognized it as part of my Manfrotto 233B Camera Flash Bracket. Like the 233B (which is a great piece of equiptment by the way) it's all metal, and for the price I had to buy it. Along with the Magic Arm it will definitely come in handy and I know I can jury rig this by itself in numerous ways. It's metal, it's made by Manfrotto and it's cheap. ($5 cheaper than anywhere else on the web if you check).
