Samsung S85 Overview

The Samsung S85 Digital Camera provides a superb resolution of 8.2 megapixels, and a sharp 5x zoom SHD lens for stunning pictures. The S850 is also very versatile with the capability for full manual exposure control. And a full range of automated features to provide the best image possible regardless of the shooting situations.

With Samsung's original ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) technology and ISO1600 high sensitivity support, the S85 enables you to take clear pictures even in dim light without using the flash. Furthermore, the Wise Shot function enables you to take two continuous pictures, one with ASR On and one with Flash On, then you can choose the better of the two pictures. The Face Recognition (AF & AE) function recognizes individuals and takes the best portrait, while the Red-eye fix feature takes care of the red-eye phenomenon during and after shooting. In addition, the Samsung S85 has a powerful movie function that records MPEG4 video at VGA resolution with a Movie Stabilizer function and a Successive Recording function.

The Mode Dial of the Samsung S85 enhances ease of use when operating the camera with only one hand, and the "E" (Effect Key) button provides the user the ability to quickly access special effect functions including color effects, highlight adjustments, photo frames and composite shot functions. Furthermore, the 2.5" TFT LCD provides improved contrast and color reproduction for easy image framing, editing and reviewing.

The Samsung S85 can produce images with an astounding 8.2 megapixels of resolution, enabling you to print detailed pictures at larger sizes - even poster size prints.
5x Optical Zoom Lens
The SHD Lens in the Samsung S85 Digital Camera provides a very useful 5x optical zoom, and produces images that are incredibly sharp and bright. The Camera is also capable of providing digital zoom up to 5x for a total combined zoom of 25x that will allow you to capture details from far away.
Incredible Macro Capability
The Macro mode of the S85 can provide beautifully sharp focus as close as 0.4" (1cm) to the subject, allowing you to photograph the delicate detail of a flower or show of the brilliance of a jewelry item to sell on e-Bay.
High Sensitivity
The Samsung S85 has the ability to provide a sensitivity level of up to ISO 1600, thereby enabling you to take clearer indoor pictures in poor light without camera shake or image blur.
Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR)
ASR technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color common to flash photography, by optimizing the cameras settings and sensitivity. With ASR the effects of camera shake are reduced in low light conditions, and you can even take well exposed, sharper pictures in low light without using a flash at all.
Wise Shot Feature
This clever feature allows you to choose the best picture by taking 2 shots simultaneously - one using ASR and one using a flash, and then simply choose the image you prefer.
Face Recognition AF & AE
The built-in Face Recognition AF & AE feature detects up to nine different faces, enabling you to take perfect portraits of friends and family. In addition to automatically adjusting focus and brightness to optimum levels, this feature also senses and removes red-eye.

Choose the scene mode that best fits your shooting situation and the camera will automatically adjusting it's setting accordingly, so you can be sure of getting great pictures effortlessly.
Powerful Manual Capability
The Camera provides a full range of manual settings including Aperture priority, Shutter priority and Full Manual modes, enabling you to express your creative ideas in pictures. The modes are so easy to select, and use, even a novice photographer can easily use the manual functions.
Broadcast Quality Movie Functions
The S85 supports VGA quality (640 x 480 @ 30fps) video recording and permits the use of the 5x optical zoom while recording. It also records QVGA (320 x 240) resolution recording for PC viewing or internet use, and you can even edit your movies right on the camera itself. Furthermore the camera includes a Movie Stabilizer function, which helps maintain steady recording of a subject by automatically detecting and correcting any camera movements, and a Successive Recording function that allows you to pause and resume video recording as desired and merge those multiple movie into a single file.
Voice Memo and Voice Recording
A built-in microphone allows a 10-second voice memo to be attached to any still image or use the voice recording feature for up to one-hour or audio capture (dependent on available memory), making the camera an excellent tool when attending conferences or classes.
Internal and Expandable Memory
The camera is equipped with 20 megabytes of internal memory so there is no need for a memory card to take pictures. The camera memory is also expandable to much higher capacities using Secure Digital (SD) flash memory cards (also compatible with MMC, MMC-plus and SDHC cards)
2.5" LCD Display
The Samsung S85 has a 2.5" LCD display that provides superb contrast and color reproduction, allowing you to enjoy a brighter and clearer image.
The "E" Button
The Effects or "E" Button allows users to easily access a slew of creative effects that are available right in the camera. You can do basic editing functions like crop your image or adjust colors, use creative color effects like sepia or negative (inverted colors), or use one of the fun effect in the camera such as composite images or add photo frames that are appropriate for many occasions.
Powered by Common AA Batteries
The camera is powered by common AA-size (LR6) batteries that can be purchased at any store, so you don't need to worry about running out of power or recharging batteries - simply get new ones locally. The camera also works incredibly well with cost effective rechargeable AA Size NiMH Batteries.
Direct Print Capable
The S85 supports PictBridge Direct printing so you can print out beautiful images with out the need of a computer. Just connect the camera to a PictBrige compatible printer and print your favorite pictures the way you want them - it is that easy.
