    Manfrotto 2983 reviews

2983 Adjustable Background Holder Crossbar (108") is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 76.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Manfrotto quality but... Happy with the quality and value. 4 stars for two issues that I found right away. One is the screw type fasteners that hold the bar to your light stands unscrews all the way and can be easily lost. A major design flaw to me. Also, I connected the bar to a friends lighter duty background stands and was unable to screw the same fasteners that hold the bar to the stand securely. The screw bolts were not long enough to reach the studs on my friends stands. Not a show stopper as you can still use the bar, it's just not as secure. If you use this bar on a pair of c-stands you will love it. It's strong and secure. What you would expect from Manfrotto. Buy it but be aware of the above.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it better than a 3 peice bar I got this to use on various width backgrounds instead of of the 3 piece crossbar I was using which leaves alot of extra length beyond the backdrop width. Overall I like it. The drawback that I don't like is that you have to completely unscrew/remove the setscrew to be able to feed it through the backdrop/paper roll. Not a huge deal, but a little extra work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One sturdy crossbar After years of using cloth backdrops and sections of pvc pipe for my backgrounds I upgraded to the 53 wide Widestone seamless paper and the Manfrotto crossbar for my commercial work. I researched many background options and found reviews stating this crossbar was very stable. It is. It collapses down for easy transport and adjusts out to any length up to about 9' I already had heavy duty light stands so this made the most sense and eliminated carry extra stands and sections of pvc or crossbars. With a few clamps my large backdrops are also easily supported. The design is perfect. The bar has built in clamps that tighten down while the bar is on the light stand eliminating the worry that the bar could slip off. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Investment I bought this holder to replace the holder that came with my backdrop stand. The original holder had to be assembled - it was in 3 pieces. The primary problems with the original holder was the limited adjustment - use 1, 2 or all three sections and, worst of all, the sections would easily come apart while inside the paper tube - this was a real problem if changes required that I move the backdrop. The Manfrotto is a single adjustable bar - no assembly required, easily adjustable and IT DOES NOT COME APART! It is also a very solidly constructed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zero Complaints Does it's job. Holds my 9'ft rolls of seamless with zero problems. Also use it with smaller seamless sizes on a table for product photography. I own two often holding paper with one, and using the other with a super clamp to attach a gridded strobe or softbox overhead of subject (product, person, whatever). Collapses and expands smoothly and easily. Excellent build quality. I've used cheaper crossbars that were not nearly as nice or well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and worth the price Very sturdy and stable, even extended. Well worth the price, I wouldn't think of going with something cheaper even to save a few bucks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to background support This is another well made product from Bogen / Manfrotto. Telescopes to adjust length, and the telecoping sections lock with a twist. Attaches to the top of standard light stands, so gives a more versatile alternative to an all-in-one background support kit. Adding this to a couple Avenger light stands produced a setup twice as nice as another kit support for a few bucks more. If would be improved if it were one foot longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Handy This pole telescopes to any length which is much better than fixed setions. The ends are small enough to pass through the pockets in Westcott muslins or rolls of Savage paper. You can hang a couple of smaller lights on this with some grip clamps. This unit is light weight, so is perfect for field use. In a permanent studio, I might choose something a little heavier. You can't have it both ways.
