This Ikelite housing for the Canon G9 camera is an injected molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. The housing offers an unobstructed view of the camera's information and control functions and operates safely to a depth of 200'. Camera installation is quick and simple, and the o-ring seal can be checked visually through the clear housing. The Release Handle system allows for easy attachment and removal of SubStrobe mounting arms at the touch of a button. The housing is sized and weighted for near neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater.
The housing includes a flash diffuser that allows underwater photos to be taken with the built-in flash of the camera. An External Strobe is recommend to improve the images by reducing the illumination of particles suspended in the water.
This housing includes the circuitry that converts Canon eTTL signals from the hot shoe for TTL compatibility with Ikelite DS SubStrobes. This is not a TTL by "watching the camera strobe" slave system but real Canon eTTL control when connecting strobes by sync cord.
The Manual Controller is the alternative if manual strobe control is your preference, providing 10 power settings in half-stop increments. Connect the Manual Controller to the housing bulkhead by sync cord.
The camera's lens design does not allow use of wide-angle conversion lenses with the standard port. The optional flat port 9305.92 replaces the standard housing port for effective use of 67mm threaded external wide-angle lenses. This shorter port only slightly limits the camera's normal zoom range (limited to approx. 120mm). The port removal tool is included. The use of a wide-angle lens allows you to get closer to your subject. This elminates water between you and your subject. This will increase contrast and improve color. The wide angle conversion lens can be attached and removed when underwater.
