We have a hearing impaired student who needs to use transcription software for a class. To isolate the instructor's voice, we used this Mic Mate to run a wireless mic receiver into a laptop.

Very noisy and useless to me

I gave it two stars because in a pinch you could use it, but mine is very noisy. I tried it with two different mics on two different PCs using two different sets of cables. Cannot get rid of the very high noise floor.

Very nice and convenient

I use it with my laptop under 64-bit Windows 7. Almost plug-n-play, did not encounter any problems. With my AT2035 mic, the sound quality is very, very good. I could not hear any noise mentioned by some previous reviewers. Extremely compact and light weight. Actually you can easily put it in your pocket. Hence great for out-door and travel activities. As others mentioned, buyers have to prepare USB and XLR cables by themselves. If you don't have an XLR, you'd better order one from internet 'cause they are much cheaper than *.With its low price, I think it perfect for someone like me who just started recording and look for some reliable, easy-to-use, convenient, and no-noise converters at reasonable price.

Works fine. Hi-Med-Lo switch is very handy to match different setups. Even works on our old mac boxes.

Small, reliable and a must have device whether you're on the road or in the studio. It just plain works.

question

Can the USB output of this mic preamp be connected to iPhone or Android phones digitally via a proper adapter, with audio being usable in a video recorder app, etc?
Asked by: Alexander
If you had a similar adapter that could get power from an external source, then it could work, but since this particular adapter doesn't have that as an option, it will not work.
