Panasonic PT-AX200U overview

  • 1Description

The Panasonic PT-AX200U projector is ideal for watching sports events or playing video games in daytime conditions or for viewing movies in a dark room. The powerful 2,000-lumen brightness and new Light Harmonizer 2 technology make it easy for you to enjoy vibrant, dynamic images even if you don't have a special theater room. Panasonic's advanced technologies improve color reproduction accuracy in movies, to deliver images with a refined "Hollywood picture quality," making this projector ideal for your home cinema system.

The projector features Panasonic's Light Harmonizer 2 technology, which produces vivid and easy to see images even in the kind of bright lighting that makes images from other projectors look whitish, faded or lacking in detail. In addition, it has a built-in ambient light sensor (ALS) that measures the amount of light in your room to optimize the picture quality at different lighting conditions. Light Harmonizer 2 circuit not only adjusts the gamma curve, but also controls iris setting, lamp power, and picture sharpness to maintain easy, comfortable viewing at all times.

Cinema 1 Mode Offers Hollywood Picture Quality
Panasonic worked with experts in Hollywood, the movie capital of the world, to create the ideal image reproduction for viewing movies. This allows the PT-AX200 to deliver true Hollywood picture quality, with images that faithfully express the director's artistic intent.
Game Mode for Stress-Free Playing
The PT-AX200 features a "Game" mode that improves signal processing for better response, allowing you to play games with minimal stress. It also reveals gradation in saturated areas to show details that are otherwise lost in very dark areas.
Smooth Screen Technology
Smooth Screen technology effectively reduces the "chicken wire effect" -the black lines between pixels that mar picture quality.
Pure Color Filter
The light spectrum is adjusted to produce a level of light that maximizes the performance of the LCD panels. This expands the color range and produces truer blacks.
Dynamic Iris
The Dynamic Iris has been refined to provide deeper, richer blacks needed for true image reproduction with stunning smoothness. This technology adjusts the lamp power, iris, and gamma curve according to data obtained from frame-by-frame histogram analysis of the image brightness level.
Advanced Dynamic Sharpness Control
Advanced Dynamic Sharpness Control determines image areas that need to be sharpened at varying degrees by examining small changes in brightness levels within the image. This greatly reduces noise amplification and delivers clear and natural looking images.

    Panasonic PT-AX200U reviews

PT-AX200U LCD Projector is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Film-like picture I purchased this projector to replace my old Single Chip DLP (infocus X1) The first thing I noticed when setting up this projector was the huge amount of zoom available, as well as a cool little joystick for shifting the picture vertically and horizontally without distorting its shape. Mounting this projector was a breeze. After connecting the projector to my high-def cable box, my jaw hit the floor. The smooth-screen technology is everything I'd hoped it would be. The colors are vivid, the motion is smooth, not to mention the complete absence of DLP rainbows and nasty screen-door effect. I highly recommend this projector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding This projector is better than I expected, and that's after an exhaustive one-month research process. There's no question it's bright, but what blew me away was the smooth screen technology. I have a 90 screen mounted 13' from the prome viewing position and the quality of the image is really stunning. uncompressed HD signals from Dish look stellar, and I haven't even had the chance to see what Blu Ray looks like. Great product, and it won't break the bank. Oh, and guys, my wife loves it too. She protested initially, but now we can enjoy movies together and she only wishes we had gone the big screen route a lot earlier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent projector, quiet, bright This is my first digital projector. I was looking for a portable projector, but of high quality. However, several reviews recommended the Panasonic, so I purchased it on sale for the same price as a portable one. It is quite big, barely fits in a small carry-on duffel bag, but it is surprisingly light-weight. It is very quiet, powers up and down quite fast. I've used it several times to watch DVD movies and PowerPoint presentations. Great connections (computer, S-video, component and 2 HDMI), and very simple set-up instructions. I've yet to test its HD mode - it projects at 720p, not 1080p.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pcture at Great Price from B&H I am using projectors since 1980s. I always try to go with budget products since the price tends to drop dramatically. This one is used in my apartment for dvd movies as well as tv. Excellent light on all corners/center. very flexible zoom lens. Excellent controls, good remote with light! The 4:3 ; Wide scalability is easy and automatic if you like. I think this is a perfect companion for any home with pretty good curtains to stop the light shining onto the screen/wall. The price was very reasonable, no need to search for a lower price, and take the risk of buying from a non reputable seller!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great out of the Box We use it in a fairly well lit living room as the primary tv. And get incredible results in all lighting conditions. With small simple adjustments even dark details are crystal clear. Pros: Incredibly easy to be up and running. Incredible picture quality. Across a twelve foot room, the picture reaches a 96 inch diagonal size and the HD is AWESOME. The fan is exhaust is much quieter and less intense than other projectors. Lens shift is quite easy. Multiple quick presets for lighting conditions. Multiple inputs. Overall, extremely happy with the results for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality for the money. This projector has excellent image quality. I have fed it directly from the computer and from my HD tivo. Motion is smoother than other projectors I looked at. Fan is so quiet, you can have the thing right next to you and it won't intrude.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Games never looked so big and so good. I bought this projector strictly to game, and I'm not disappointed. Unbelievable HD picture. The projector is in a room where there is always ambient light and it doesn't matter, the picture is bright and clear. I might have to quit my job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gamer's Paradise We've used this projector with our PS3, XBox 360, and Wii. We are throwing a 120 inch diagonal image on to a plain white wall from 16 feet. Even with only light weight curtains, the screen is pleasantly visible on sunny days. Everything said about it at ... is true. It came extremely well packaged - in foam, in a box, tightly fit in another box, on air pillows, in a third box. I have yet to find a problem with it and probably won't until I need to get a new light assembly at around 2000 hours ($350!), but that will probably be two years from now. BTW, you will need a self powered light bar (sensor bar) for the Wii and USB Active extension cables for the PS3 or XBox cameras in order to use them with this or any other projector. The light bar will be hard to position correctly, but once you got it you will have the best gaming screen in the city!
