Can one just attach this type of diffusion filter to the front of an open light, such as an Impact reflector, with a wooden clothes pin? Is that safe, and effective? If properly protected in transport, how long can a diffusion filter last?
The Rosco diffusion #140 is used with hot lights. But with any gel or diffusion material when used with hot lights you need to allow some space between the light and the material. By doing that it lets air flow. And how long a gel/diffusion lasts has to many variables and there is no set length it will last.Note, with hot lights one needs to always keep an eye on the diffusion as it can eventually melt.
