The Panasonic BB-HNP15A adds recording capabilities to Panasonic's line of "BB" IP network cameras. This program installs on any Windows PC on the network, allowing you to view and record video and audio streams simultaneously received from multiple network cameras over the Internet. As with a standalone NVR, this software application also supports schedule and motion detection based recording options. By harnessing the power of your existing computer setup to handle all of these complex functions, you save yourself the need buy costly add-on components like a DVR, switcher or video monitor.
MPEG-4 & MJPEG Recording
You can choose to record images using the faster but lower quality MPEG-4 compression method or the higher quality but also larger bandwidth MJPEG mode. This will allow you to prioritize quality over bandwidth or vice versa while taking into account such crucial factors as available network and storage resources.
Advanced Motion Detection Function
As with a stand alone DVR, this program can be set to record continuously, at a certain date and time, or when motion is detected. By recording only important event footage, motion detection greatly cuts down on storage and network requirements. Needless to say, motion detection also makes it much easier to locate event material. Motion detection can be combined with schedule recording so that recording will start at a specific time, but only when movement is sensed.
Easy Format Conversion
Still or video images can be easily converted to a Windows recognizable format. Converted video can be played back using Windows Media Player while still images can be viewed using any Windows supported picture viewer. This will allow images exported on a CD/DVD disc or flash memory drive to be viewed on any Windows PC. Audio portions are converted to WAV files.
Recording Capacity Limit Function
A certain amount of hard drive space can be dedicated to each network camera. When that limit is reached, the camera will start overwriting over old footage. This allows a user to efficiently manage storage resources.
