question
I'm trying to set up off camera flash and I cannot figure out how I attach the flash and pocket wizard to this device.
To attach a flash or pocket wizard to the Stroboframe Flash Mount Adapter, you simply mount the flash as if you were mounting the device onto the hot shoe of your camera, and tighten the knob to secure it to the clamp.

can this mount be used to connect well to the Canon 580 EXII flash?
While you do not indicate in your inquiry what item you are trying to connect to the Canon 580EX II Speedlite Flash, the Canon 580EX II does have a standard ISO hot shoe design, and the Stroboframe Flash Mount Adapter - Standard Shoe Type, B&H # STFMS, would be compatible for use with the Canon 580EX II Speedlite Flash. The Stroboframe Flash Mount Adapter has a standard 1/4"-20 female tripod screw socket on the bottom of the unit, which would allow you to mount the Stroboframe Flash Mount Adapter (and the Canon 580EX II Speedlite Flash) onto other items.

question
I was looking at this as a way to attach a Speedlite to a small ball head attached to a stand. What is the difference between this item (300-SHO) and item 300-405, and which is recommended? Thanks.
Looks like they are both the same except that one contains a 1/4 20 bolt that you do not need but it costs less! ??
