Epson S045037 overview

  • 1Description

Replicating the appearance and feel of a traditional F-surface darkroom paper, Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper aims to provide users with a beautiful soft gloss finish for their digital prints. A fiber base offers a professional feel with a weight of 325 gsm and thickness of 13 mil, making it an excellent choice for galleries and exhibitions. Also, by utilizing some optical brightening agents the paper is able to reach a whiteness of 147% and a brightness of 111%. This makes it possible to create prints with deep blacks and subtle tonal gradations, suitable for advanced black-and-white printing as well as long-lasting color prints. Additionally, this paper is instant drying.

This paper is available here as a 25-pack of 13 x 19" sheets.

Epson S045037 reviews

Exhibition Fiber Paper (13 x 19", 25 Sheets) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 119.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great paper! I bought this paper as a try out and the results were excellent. I normally use Fine Art papers like Velvet Fine Art and Velvet Ultra Smooth papers for my photos and my preferred size is 13X19. That's because I like the feel and look of Velvet papers and I like big prints out. By using Epson profiles for the paper I got exactly the results I was looking for. Tonal range was great and the end result was that one couldn't almost be sure if it is a black & white film or a digital photo. B&H online service is very effective and fast and I'm very happy with the delivery system. I'm a brazilian living in Mexico so I apologies for my english.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best paper i have used thus far I love this paper, plain and simple. The thickness of the paper is perfect and the finish is absolutely stunning. One issue with this paper is that it is much thicker than standard paper so setting up a printer platten gap every time and switching back and forth can be a pain. it is defiantly a plus to have one printer dedicated to printing this thicker paper if possible, although not many of us have that option. The other problem i have noticed is that the finish does scratch and show the scratches very easily, so take care of your prints and everything will be great. Overall i am very pleased with this paper and have purchased multiple boxes since the first purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BETTER THAN SILVER A rich looking paper that reproduces the best black and white images I have seen on paper designed for inkjet. Of course much depends on the source, but the images I struck using an Epson R2400 and a 6400 dpi scan from a medium format Tri-X original were incredibly detailed and rich in tonality. The surface of this paper is a thing of wonder, just the right fiber based air dried gloss with an amazing degree of smoothness and uniformity. The paper lays flat after absorbing high density Photo PRM ink levels and looks incredible under glass when matted and framed. This is a true archival, museum quality professional product when used with the right inks and matted on acid free board.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not until they clean the factory I took advantage of Epson rebates and bought several boxes of Exhibition Fiber. Every box and every size (8.5 x 11, 13 x 19, 17 x 22) has dirty paper. Some of the dirt is loose, but some is embedded in the surface in the form of small black or brown dots, and small blue smudges. Some have hair embedded in the surface. This flaw affected at least half of the sheets. Epson doesn't have Technical Support for paper, so there was no help from them except to return the paper. That would be fine except the cost of returning 50 pounds of paper falls on me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Epson Paper This is a thick paper with a solid feel and nice texture -- much better than Lustre. Without a doubt it is Epson's finest paper ever manufactured. I viewed several prints made with an Epson 9900 and this paper that were beyond description. They were that great! The sharp tones and brilliant colors are terrific. As for this paper being similar to that of papers used by wet darkroom owners, I highly disagree on this point. I had a darkroom for many years. Exhibition Fiber Paper is absolutely nothing at all like the papers I used in that environment. This is not a shortcoming. It is just an observation. Exhibition Fiber Paper is a marvelous product on its own basis.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not the best I gave this paper 1 star because it's really isn't the best out there and Epson does not currently offer an ICC profile for this paper and their older printers such as the 2200 (still a very popular printer). As a consumer, I firmly believe that product support is an integral part of the product and if you don't have a current model, this paper lacks that component and in color printing, this can even render the product unusable for it's intended purpose-- Exhibition. The paper itself is a decent paper but not as good, in my opinion as Hanehmuele FA Baryta or Moab Colorado. I really wonder if the other reviewers have compared it to the competition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this paper I love this paper. I use it mainly for larger prints, often portraiture but also for landscapes and composite imagery. I use it for both color and black and white, printing on the Epson 1900, 2200, and 2880 models. I prefer to use the Premium Luster paper setting (when not using a custom profile) instead of the recommended Glossy setting. I feel that I get richer prints from the Luster setting. I have no trouble with paper loading as I have with similar papers. I have a few other favorites, but do grab Exhibition Fiber by the bunch whenever I can find it on sale :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not until they clean the factory, Part 2 I wanted to update my previous review. Epson did finally contact me, and agreed to replace my paper, as well as pay for the postage for me to return it to Long Beach, CA. The new batch arrived, and although there were different lot numbers, and different box designs, all still had the dots of dirt. The larger the piece of paper, the more likely it was going to have dots. Only 6 of 25 in the 8.5 x 11 box were contaminated, but 21 out of 25 in the 17 x 22 box were affected. I returned all 5 boxes (again) and Epson agreed to replace it with Cold Press Natural. The folks in Long Beach were very tight lipped about this, and I suspect they're just becoming aware of the problem. Not good news for Exhibition Fiber - once the fine art community learns of this flaw, they'll stay away - permanently. Other than this fatal flaw, it's a beautiful paper, but because of the dirty manufacturing environment, I can't use it or trust it to be archival.
