The VisualGate Systems VueCAM VC202 is an IP camera that uses Powerline technology to transmit high quality digital video over existing AC electrical wiring in commercial or residential buildings. Powerline technology greatly simplifies the installation process, allowing camera placement in areas where running Ethernet cable is too difficult, overly costly or simply unsightly. It also provides an easy way to move a camera from room to room within the same building, taking into account that most rooms have at least one power outlet.
While this camera transmits directly into an AC outlet, an optional VueBRIDGE converter is required to change the signal coming from the AC outlet back into a standard Ethernet signal recognizable by a network router. Once the signal is received by the router, camera images can be viewed from virtually anywhere in the world over the Internet.
Optional software can be purchased to add recording capabilities to this camera. Just like a stand alone DVR, this software program supports such advanced features as motion based recording, easy search by date and time and email alarm notification.
