Sony VF-77CPAM overview

  • 1Description

Circular Polarizer - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras. (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems).

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to remove haze from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance.

    Sony VF-77CPAM reviews

77mm Circular Polarizer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth as Silk... I have had all the best CP's from B&W Kaesemann to Rodenstock to Hoya. They have all had one fault or another. This Zeiss filter is sublime. This filter is very smooth in movement, very slim and is optically fantastic. The included case is a bonus. It's hard to beat the T* coating from Zeiss...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value Although not listed, the Sony Polarizers are all low-profile designs. When you compare this unit (with its Zeiss T* coating) to the high end multicoated low profile filters from other manufacturers, the Sony is markedly less expensive for an arguably better filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just works This is my second Sony CP. I owned a smaller one and was very happen with the build quality and handling the product. This one is the larger size for my zoom lenses. The richness in colour of the picture is not the same from the photoshop toning. I love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to hold the ring that turns The product functions, but because the ease of turning is essential to this filter, I would not recommend this brand or model to anyone. I found the very thin ring difficult to hold. The turning motion was smooth, but holding onto the ring was not easy. I was developing hand cramps trying to grasp the ring. So far, the best filter for turning is Heliopan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, no vignetting Works well in that there is no vignetting, which I get with other polarized filters. However, the low profile takes makes the rotation of the filter a little trickier. Something I am sure I'll will get more comfortable with. Of course, the blue skies with white clouds, look great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is meant to A high quality Polarizing filter, with the renkowned Zeiss T* coatings. This filter does what it is meant to, withou degrading the quality of lenses. It is slilmline, so does not appear to cause vignetting on a 24-70mm lens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mystery Low rating for 2 reasons. First, I haven't shot it yet. Second, it arrived in the usual annoying hermetically sealed packaging loaded with finger prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome polarizer!!! Got this for use on all my 77mm Sony lenses as well as the third party ones. It worked great and no problems so far. IMHO, this is a great product.
