It is aluminum. In order for it to be used on other matte boxes, your third party matte box needs to have inserts that accept the two screws on each ear.

How do you attach the side flaps on the Cavision 4 x 5.65" Matte Box. There re no female hinges for the male hinges of the flap?
The Cavision MBF4SA Adjustable Side Flaps for 4x4 and 4.45 Matte Box are not designed for the Cavision 4 x 5.65" Matte Box.
