The Tiffen 72mm Digital High Transmission (DHT) Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter is a filter that contains the strength of a titanium coating along with high-end optical glass. Using their patented ColorCore technology, this filter represents the highest scratch-resistant durability available. There is no need to worry about cleaning this filter since the coating protects the surface thereby maintaining the optical quality of the glass.

This filter has a low profile design as well an extra durable filter ring. The "Wow" feature is that Digital HT filters are rated to surpass military specifications for hardness and durability - no small achievement.

Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast.

The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems)

Benefits

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to remove haze from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance
State-of-the-art technological breakthrough in multi-coated photo and video filters
Surpass even military specifications for hardness and durability
Low profile titanium ring and anti-reflective black lock ring

ColorCore Technology

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a closely guarded proprietary process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision metal rings
The ColorCore process allows Tiffen to control the color and density of their filters, and the characteristics of special effects filters with much greater accuracy than typical dyed-in-the-mass filters, which usually exhibit color and density variations

Superior Quality

Top Hollywood motion picture studios rely on Tiffen filters for their multi-million dollar productions
Superior quality and design make Tiffen the overwhelming choice of moviemakers, professional photographers and even NASA
Tiffen has also been awarded an Emmy, from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, for its engineering excellence

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiffen does it again! I have had numerous Polarizing filters for film and digital photography, but I have never had much use for them until Tiffen made their new HT series and now I am hooked. I placed this filter on a Canon EF 24 - 105 f/4 L IS USM Lens Mounted on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and cruised the Alaskan Inside Passage. I love to shoot the surface of water with or without reflections, water falls, glaciers, waves and such. The results that I had were spectacular to say the least. I was able to get beautiful reflections without glare along with nice saturated colors. This filter is still on my lens and will stay until it is absolutely not required for the work at hand - then it goes back on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing paired with Nikon 18-200 zoom Excellent addition to my filter collection. This is the best circular polarizer I have used. I heard some complaints that it did not seem sturdy or it was hard to remove from lens. I have not had any problems. Have not needed filter wrenches in 20+ uses. Most of uses were on beach or at lake but I have used in several times in an urban setting with window glare. It is easily removed and the filter holds the position when set, something I have had trouble with on some other filters. I have not had any trouble with flares at widest settings but I don't shoot much there so it may or may not be a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great filter Be careful to check for vignetting when photographing zoomed out. Upon my first use, I didn't do that and my files had completely black corners. Somewhat correctable using LR3 lens profile correction and vignetting tool. But I had to crop to completely eliminate the vignette. But the actual effects of the filter are awesome - great at reducing glare off water when I was shooting photos from a boat on a lake. Great clouds, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality filter, worth the money. This filter gives the effect that I expected, no problems using it with a range of lenses on a 16M pixel APS-C. It also comes in a stiff nylon pouch which I personally prefer to those plastic cases that most other filters come in. There are no blemishes that I can find on the coating or glass. The rotating ring is put together well. This is the newer ht titanium one with the titanium grey ring, don't get this one confused with tiffen's older regular polarizer which has a black ring (they seem to have the same product image here on B&H). These are of a higher quality and are also supposed to be very durable with a titanium oxide coating, although I haven't put mine through enough use to say much on that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super product. I use my polarizer heavily. Why have glare when it isn't necessary? My Nikon cp basically lost its coating after awhile, so I replaced it with this rugged, clear, and fully functional American made marvel. I couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product Great Results I know there are a lot of cheaper filters I could have bought but why would I? I spent a lot of money getting a quality camera and quality lenses because I wanted to get super sharp images. So it only makes sense to get a quality filter to aid the process! I made the right decision! The Tiffen filter has worked great. Now I'm getting the super sharp images I want and am able to eliminate the distracting glare and reflections too. I love this filter!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing results I've purchased this filter to pair with an expensive lens such as a Canon EF 50mm 1.2L. This filter has an excellent construction, comes with a nice pouch, and the results are amazing, especially at the beach.
