The Light & Motion Stingray HD housing has been carefully engineered to be easy to learn and use. This is good news for the new underwater videographer. The Stingray HD also adapts to your future Sony video camcorders. By changing the camera tray the housing is compatible with a variety of camcorders. The housing is so simple to use, it makes capturing underwater video and stills a breeze.
With the design benefits of non-penetrating electronic controls it eliminates the risk of housing leaks typical with mechanical through-hole designs. The standard 3.5" high-resolution monitor back gives you an easy view of what you're shooting. The modular camera trays allows the Stingray HD housing to adapt to nearly the entire line of Sony HD video cameras while allowing accurate camera positioning to take advantage of Light & Motion's high quality optics.
The housing comes with the all-glass Zoom Macro Lens. The Zoom Macro Lens allows for a 65° viewing angle at full wide while still providing macro ability for smaller subjects. This is a versatile lens that allows you to capture an array of subjects while maintaining focus through the full zoom range of the camcorder.
The travel package includes the Light & Motion Sunray 1000 LED Lighting kit. The battery pods are a sleek low profile slim design and integrate neatly beneath the housing. The Light & Motion Sunray 1000 LED light system brings the sun underwater. The system includes two light heads that have nine LED diodes. Each head emits a staggering 1000 lumens of 6000k color-correct, white light. Also included is the Light & Motion's Color Temperature Management System (CTMS), which allows you to thread external filters into the bezel to customize the color temperature of the light in a matter of seconds. The Sunray 1000 system includes arms, memory-free NiMH batteries, underwater pluggable connectors and a multi-voltage fast charger. The light heads feature proprietary peened aluminum reflectors and clear glass lenses that produce an unobstructed, wide, flood-patterned beam. There is plenty of bright, yet balanced, fill light with no hot spots, which is ideal for video lighting.
Lights are extremely important for your underwater imaging system. The ocean is one big, blue filter. As you descend, the reds and oranges quickly become muted shades of blue and gray. Shining a color corrected light source on your subject will bring back your subject's natural color.
The travel case itself features the hard-shell Pelican 1520 case which meets US airline size requirements for carry-on luggage. Inside, the case has custom die-cut protective foam that accommodates all travel package components and extra space for additional accessories, o-ring kits, batteries and media.
