Kramer FC-5 Protocol Translator & Controller

The FC-5 Protocol Translator & Controller from Kramer is designed to make an RS-232 controlled machine compatible with other RS-232 based products. This unit will work with both Kramer and non-Kramer products. By default it is configured with two translation drivers, Kramer Protocol 2000 and Sierra Video Systems protocol to Kramer Protocol 2000. This solution is well suited for using contact closure switches to manage screens, projectors, lights, security gates, and other similar RS-232 equipment.

Multiple control connections can be used with this unit, including (2) RS-232 COM ports, (11) remote contact closure pins, and (2) relay connections. The included PC-based software program allows you to build translation tables and to define associations between codes for the COM ports, relays, and contact closures. It can operate between four translation tables, which are selected via dip switches and each translation table can include up to 256 translation commands. This device belongs to the Kramer TOOLS family of products and up to (3) of these units can be mounted side by side in 1U of a 19" standard equipment rack.
