The Kenko (THK Photo Products) KFM-1100 Autometer is a user-friendly and ergonomically designed light meter for reading both ambient and flash light. This simple and reliable meter is both comfortable in your hand and logically designed, with a minimum of confusing buttons.

The large LCD display reads out in "F" numbers in 10ths of stops and in 1/2 stop increments in a pointer scale across the top of the display. With a shutter speed range of 1/8000 second to 30 minutes, this meter is quite sensitive. In its cine mode, frame rates of 8-128 can be achieved.

As a flash meter, the KFM-1100 can be used with or without a sync cord, and has an aperture range of F/1.0 - f/128. As an added bonus, both flash and ambient lighting can be analyzed to determine the lighting ratio of any scene. This feature is very handy in scenes where a flash is being used to "open up" a shadowed area left by ambient (natural) light.

The meter's "Calculation" function can be used to average measurements that have been stored in memory, very useful in reflected light measurements, to capture highlight or shadow detail more accurately.

The KFM-1100 can store 2 measurements that can be recalled for reference or for averaging. Just press the "M" button after each reading to store it in memory. If the memory has two readings stored, it will delete the oldest reading to store the current information.

KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Auto Meter Reborn! The KFM-1100 is clearly a remake of the late Minolta Auto Meter series. Just as great in reliablility, ease of use, and ergonomics. It does everything a light meter should, and not much more. For more features one could spend double, but for just over $Kenko offers a great value. However I must say that the construction feels less robust than the Minolta models that mirror the Kenko.Battery life is great, and considering it uses just one AA replacement is easy when seconds count. The only negative remarks I have are about finding accessories for the KFM-1100. The manual lists variouse add-ons for spot metering and such, but does not tell you where to find them. Even Kenko's website gives no clues on how one may actually purchase them. The 1100 is a great meter. Lacking the bells and whistles of many others, but for the price it is the best choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good I bought another as a back-up I have used a Minolta Flash Meter since 1981. Kenko bought out the Minolta line and renamed it, but it is still the Minolta Flash IV inside and out. My Flash III lasted 25 years and was dead on accurate. Just like the Flash III, this Kenko meter It is also dead on accurate - if you put one next to another they both read the same down to the tenth of a stop. It's a no frill's. durable, dependable meter that promises to go the distance. Buy this meter if you don't want or need extra fluff. It's a no brainer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's great! Great product! Love the accuracy. I'd buy another one, but wish they changed two things:a. I did some research on this, but not enough, and I hate reading manuals. If I can't figure it out with a couple buttons, I won't buy it. Apparently I can't figure out how to set it to a 50th of a second shutter speed. Or maybe that setting doesn't exist? 60th is the closest you can get.b. the rubber grommet that covers the brass connection on the bottom never stays in. You put it in the case, it pops out. You pull it out of the case, and the grommet pops out. It doesn't need to be there, but it's good for dust prevention, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Light Meter For The Money As a professional photographer for 28 years, I used the Minolta Autometer IVF I had bought at B&H for many of those years. Accidents happen and I looked to replace it only to find it was obsolete. That is, until I discovered the Kenko KFM-1100 Auto Digi Meter at B&H. Its identical to my Minolta and the 5 Degree spot attachment from the Minolta fits onto it perfectly. I couldn't be happier. Only the brand name has changed. A fine quality instrument I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good lightmeter Very easy to use, the manual is well explained. It seems to be very solid and durable. Ive recently tested it and the readings were quite precise. What I like the most is that this lightmeter gives you the ambient light/flash contribution in the scene in terms of percentage, so for instance, you can increase the shutter speed for more flash light contribution or decrease it for more ambient light. I highly recommend this lightmeter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much better than equivalent Sekonic I first ordered the Sekonic L-308DC and found the made of the Sekonic really bad - the Buttons feel very, very cheap. This Kenko Meter is a little bit larger than the Sekonic, but not much. The Meter is the follow-up of the famous one made by Minolta. This meter is intended to be used in the left hand (right hand for the camera). Simple to use and intuitive. The quality is above acceptable (not Leica standard, but o.k.). The Kenko is made in Japan, the Sekonic in the Philippines. In my opinion by paying 40 USD more for this meter you get a lot more quality. A joy to use in the studio and outdoors. I gave 4 stars (-1) because I shoot quality equipment and I'm a bit disappointed, that construction wise many of the products today are not made as they used to be 20 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works It's basic and straight forward. I had the predecessor of this (minolta auto meter) for a couple of decades. They were a good piece of equipment. I upgraded to the sekonic touch screen, but had nothing but problems. A touch screen on an item that gets bumped around constantly changes the parameters. In this case, manual is better. I'm happy to return to the Kenko (minolta).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect and quality from Japan This is a super cool meter. I use it every photoshot. There are some things that I dont like but with me it still better than the sekonic 358. Pros: Fast and accurate result. Light weight and good build. The button is simple and easy to use. Use AA battery, so dont worry about out of power. Cons: Only have Speed priority. Have to buy flat and reflection caps separate.
