Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mandatory hardware Okay.... back problems gone... the first few weeks without a Observer's Chair!!! Yikes... my back was starting to get sore... and I was not taking time to enjoy and absorb what I had in my eyepiece... An Ob Chair should be viewed as mandatory... As far as the Starbound product... I think it is the sort of the gold standard out there.... Yep, a few more expensive ones - but none that I saw that worked as well and as solid...Could one improve on the design - yes - maybe a roller design - etc... but, I am now just reaching on improvement ideas... Save your back - enjoy your viewing - get a chair designed for the job !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clever and comfy The chair arrives in two pieces, and assembly takes less than five minutes and requires no tools. Adjustment of the seat height merely requires tilting the edge of the seat upward, which frees the seat to slide up and down the supporting poles. It's sturdy enough to hold a hefty person, the white color makes it easy to see at night, it allows a wide range of seat heights, and the seat can be removed for lie-flat transport or storage. What's not to like?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected My hobbies include making furniture and welding. My telescope is in an observatory so any chair purchased or built would have to contend with short distances from the scope to the walls. I read the reviews and asked myself if I could build something that worked better and for less money. The answer was yes I could build something for less money, but not be as compact and it may not be more functional. Sometimes you just spend the money. I did and am happy to report it is worth the praise it has received in other reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fine Observer's Chair After standing to observe through my telescopes forever, I decided it was time to take a seat. So glad I found the Starbound chair. It's well built, with a nicely padded seat. It also has no problem handling my 250+ pounds, and I found it quite stable on the ground. At a dark observing site white is the best color choice. The best bonus of all from using the Starbound chair is extended, comfortable time at the eyepiece. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect astronomy chair! Excellent product. Much more sturdy than you would think. Easily adjustable and comfortable. I cannot believe how I lived without this chair for so long. I'm glad I went for this chair over some of the wood ones. It is also easy to transport, the chair folds and you can take the seat off by unscrewing the knobs on each side of the seat to detach for travel to a dark site. You can also raise or lower the seat all way for car transport if you do not want to remove the seat. This chair will last for years, great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I did buy this product again and again I do public astronomy and already have one Starbound Observer's Chair, which I have found very useful because it easily adjusts to different heights to accommodate either adults or children. It is sturdy enough to accommodate some rather large adults. At the Robert Ferguson Observatory where I volunteer we set up two solar telescopes (one with a neutral density filter and one with an h-alpha.) I purchased this chair and donated it to the observatory for my fellow docent to use at the other telescope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, adjustable, comfortable Highly recommended accessory! Easily adjustable by just lifting the front of the seat and sliding up and down, it is very handy in the dark. Plenty of padding makes it very comforable. Solid build means no worrys about stability. Using an observing chair has made a huge difference in both visual observing and doing things like alignment. It is so much easier to take your time and be patient when you aren't hunched over the scope. No more back pain after a session with the scope!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good optics and very useful for overhead objects As a beginner, I'm still learning to use this product. Had been using the illuminated Celestron pointer which came with an 8SE, but it was extremely difficult to use with objects high in the sky. This finderscope makes object location, particularly those located toward the zenith, easier because of the diagonal and the erect field of view. My biggest problem with it is recognizing the target in its wide field. For that reason, I am still occasionally using the pointer to assist me. The eyepiece has variable focus and the view is clear and crisp.
