Do the ends of the quick release fit into each other so that when I take off the main strap, the two smaller parts attached to the camera will fit into each other to make a much smaller strap? I'd like to use this for my binoculars and will sometimes use this small strap to attach to my backpack on my chest.

Does the strap have any material to prevent slipping off your shoulder? I want a strap to use with a 2nd camera that will stay on my shoulder.
Not exactly, there is soft padding, but there isn't any kind of grip or anti-slip material. Also this isn't that long either. I primarily use it when the camera is around my neck.

Does the foam rubber have nylon smooth edge or unbound rubber edge?
as far as I know from using the strap it does not the edge is wrap around with some binding or bounding. It is a very good quailty strap I am planning to buy another one to replace some of my older straps. B and H pick a good product to sell.
