The black, micro OP/TECH USA Hood Hat is designed to fit a lens and shade with a diameter from approximately (5.1 to 6.4 cm). Simply placing the Hood Hat onto the front of the hood while in place will provide just as much protection for the critical front lens elements as would be provided by a traditional lens cap. I use these good hats to replace my lens cap, especially when traveling. They provide cushion, a moisture barrier, and they are easy to get on and off quickly and quietly.

Much better than what Leica gives you!!!

The metal lens cap that comes standard on a Leica Q2 Monochrome just doesn't cut the mustard. Not only won't it snap onto the lens, it slides off very easily....sometimes in the bag! On top of that, all it actually protects is the very front of the lens. OP/TECH hoods like this one stay on the lens very well if you get the right size. And in the case of this one on this particular camera, it offers padded protection of the f-stop and focus rings! I'm super impressed of their products hitting it out of the park for what is basically pennies in a gear freak's budget!

Can this work with a Leica 35mm Apo Summicron-M lens? (The lens has a focusing tab.)

Yes, the OP/TECH USA Hood Hat, Micro will fit over the focusing tab on the Leica APO-Summicron-M 35mm f/2 ASPH. Lens (Leica M), BH #LE352APOSM • MFR #11699.

is this the right size for a Leica Q? or the mini?

I use this item on my Leica Summilux-M 1.4 as I was always loosing the Leica Cap...not to say I haven't lost a Hood Hat, but they stay with me longer. I just tried it on my friends Q and it fits. A little tight...requires both hands...but the next size up may be to big. Make lots of images. Best C
