    VariZoom VZ-D50 reviews

VZ-D50 Light Duty Dolly for Small Jibs is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid build Primarily used in studio settings as a dolly for lightweight (10 - 18 lbs.) video cameras mounted on medium-duty tripods, but also pressed into service as a studio dolly for 35 mm and medium format DSLR cameras. The construction is of high quality and quite solid for a light duty dolly. The unit can be easily deployed and folded for storage/transport in the equipment bag provided, and set-up and lock-down of a tripod is quickly accomplished. The oversized silent wheels permit the loaded dolly to be easily moved over a variety of hard and padded surfaces without the risk of tipping the rig. In a pinch, the dolly can be used for short trucking shots when working on very smooth and even surfaces. I've read reviews in the past in which complaints have been lodged about the wheels being damaged because the dolly was shipped with the wheel locks engaged. However, VariZoom must have subsequently addressed this problem: I received the dolly with the locks disengaged, and a warning is included in the instruction sheet to avoid storing or transporting the unit with the wheel locks engaged.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trouble The wheels leave the factory locked, which makes a permanent indent in the rubber leaving for very unstable rolling. Set-up and portability are great, but twenty minutes after opening the box I was replacing the casters with spare casters from a construction project I was doing. Good product, bad execution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Bargain! Usually, you get less than expected. Not with this dolly! This is worth twice the price. Solid build, smooth wheels, solid locks. Before I purchased this item I read the reviews. Looks like this once was shipped with the casters locked. Called Varizoom before I ordered and they assured me that they no longer were shipped in the locked position. They were right. Excellent product, great customer service and a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow It folds nicely and comes with a bag. Good size wheels, easy to use brakes, rolls on carpet with no problem. I had an issue with another Varizoom product. The service department experience was exceptional, putting Varizoom at the top of my list when I look for studio equipment. I own a 127VS Variable Leg Spread Portable Dolly (Black). This is a far superior dolly for less $$$. Made in the USA. Go for it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leg clamps are cheap plastic and break The adjustable leg clamps are screwed together with very cheap, tiny screws that shear off after a few uses. This makes it almost useless. Hard to trust your expensive camera on such cheap attachments. Wheels/locks/legs feel pretty sturdy, but the contact points for the tripod are awful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged, well designed, priced right A great small tripod dolly. Folds and carries conveniently. Adjustable clamps give a solid connection even with different size tripods. Decent size wheels roll smoothly making it easy to move rig around between shots. Good solid build - looking forward to years of service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Niiiiiice! I use the dolly for all my music videos and i can say its very smooth! But! But! It doesnt work on carpet! Needs to be a smooth surface! I really want the crane to go along with it! For the price this dolly is worth it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Dolly this,Aside from the missing swivel pin missing when I initially ordered the dolly works great. VariZoom was very anxious to make sure they sent me the pin needed for my dolly. I used in church and it worked perfectly.
