Nikon Lenspen Reviews

All you need to keep your optics in top shape.

As I wrote above, this kit keeps your optics in fine shape. It includes two cleaning pens, and two high quality wipes, all enclosed in a zippered pouch. What more can you ask for? And... from a company you can trust. The lens pens come from a company in Canada. Lenspen is known for their attention to quality and detail. They are in my opinion, the flag carrier of the industry. I have four of these kits. With respect to the issue of not using the grey micro fiber cloth to clean your lens optic. It makes sense not to use the cloth to clean the optic, BUT, if the microfiber is clean, no dust or debris, it should be ok. I would suggest that if you are going to use the cloth to clean the optic, use a hurricane blower first. Do not use compressed air as this might cause damage from the freon chemicals. And now a word about B+H . This company is ethical and fair. They are customer driven and that in this ever changing World, is a very big plus. I have been buying from B+H for two decades. At no time have I regretted doing business with them. I will continue to do so.

Nice to have!

question

According to reviews on another (never to be mentioned here) website, the microfiber cloth is not to be used on lenses. Is that true?
Asked by: Anonymous
The issue I believe is that microfiber cloths can pick up potentially abrasive dust particles, but that can be avoided if you wash the cloth and then keep it in a plastic bag. Lens coatings are pretty tough in general, so I'd not be worried as long as the cloth is known to be dust/dirt free and washed regularly enough that oils don;t build up on the fibers (and smear on the lens)

Asked by: Jack
No, the Nikon Lens Pen Pro Kit (BH #NILPPK) could maybe hold a very small air blower but isn't designed for it.

question

I was using a generic pen to keep my old camera's lens clean. One day I noticed a black smudge being created by the pen. It even left a smudge on my skin. Does anyone know why this smudge was created? My husband bought me a similar cleaning kit for my new Nikon and I hesitate to use it.Thanks.DSLR Newbie

In much the same way that carbon in newsprint ink allows you to clean a window with newspaper, the carbon helps absorb oils, grease, etc. which smudge the lens. When you place the cap back on the carbon tip, the tip is refreshed, for up to ~500 or so cleanings.

Very good quality. I would not use anything else on my expensive lens. Out of stock now. But, hopefully coming soon.

Does anyone have an idea what the "non-liquid compound that won't spill or dry out" is? I have two LensPens and both shed fine black lint and 'stamp' black circles of the lint on white paper; will they not leave that same residue on my lenses?
Asked by: Jessica
Lenspen uses a proprietary carbon compound for cleaning. While this may shed on other products, it cleans when used on optics.

The Nikon Lenspen Lens Cleaning Pen has no expiration date and so can last years. In terms if usage, it is rated for about 500 cleanings.

question

I wonder about the little pad. If there are any particles on the glass and they are picked up by the pad, where do they go? If you cap it, then uncap it for use on another lens/glass, would the pad have anything from the last glass cleaned on it?
Asked by: Anonymous
IT depends on how dirty the first lens you're trying to clean. of course, it will pick up particles from a past cleaning however all cleaning pads/cloths are the same. You can gently clean the pad then continue to use it.
