The Linksys WVC2300 is a high performance network camera loaded with the features and functions useful in a commercial surveillance environment. A wireless connection provides versatile installation options while simultaneous MPEG-4/MJPEG image compression offers better data management. Users can also take advantage of a built-in microphone providing two-way voice communication and an auto iris function ensuring properly exposed images in changing light levels.
Wireless Communication
The ability to communicate wirelessly with the network greatly simplifies the installation process. In the absence of a network cable, the camera can easily be placed in hallways, stairwells or even inside certain outdoor housings. In addition to supporting the common 802.11 b/g protocol, this unit also works with more advanced wireless technologies like 1x2 MIMO, offering a greater wireless range and better security management.
Simultaneous MPEG-4/MJPEG Streaming
Video is captured simultaneously using the MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression formats. This provides a user with better control over how data is distributed over the network. For example, a user can choose to view images using the lower quality but faster MPEG-4 codec and at the same time send video to a network recorder using the slower but higher quality MJPEG compression method.
Built-In Microphone
A built-in microphone along with audio I/O ports endows the camera with 2-way audio capabilities. Two-way voice communication can be an important tool in factories, retail stores, transportation facilities and similar applications requiring the ability to hear and speak over a network.
Low Light Sensitivity
A progressive scan CCD aids the camera in producing identifiable images even in low light conditions. Additionally, this camera incorporates an IR cut filter, which when used with an optional external IR illuminator, will allow the camera to see in complete darkness.
Remote Cell Phone Viewing
With support for IP Multicast, RTSP, RTP and 3GPP, remote viewing is possible using 3G and WiFi enabled mobile phones.
Optional Pan/Tilt Function
This camera can easily be upgraded to provide motorized pan and tilt operation simply by mounting it on an industry standard Pan/Tilt unit conforming to the Pelco-D protocol. Control communication is via the camera's RS-485 port.
Alarm I/O Ports
A number of alarm I/O ports on the camera can be used with external sensors to activate an alarm or to trigger devices following an alarm activity.
