The Custom Brackets CB Gimbal Basic is designed to work in conjunction with any ballhead with an Arca-style quick release clamp, and will convert it into a gimbal head. It allows the lens to rotate around its center of gravity, dramatically improving handling and vibration dampening. It is ideal for use with e.g. 300mm f/2.8 or 500mm f/4.5 lenses, but also works great with 70-200/f 2.8 telephoto zooms or macro lenses with tripod collars such as the 180mm f/3.5 & 400mm f/5.6.
Weighing less then 1.5 lb, the arm/adapter follows a modular design, which makes it great for travel use. High-quality ball bearings used for the tilt movement ensure smooth operation. This also means that the assembly never needs lubrication.
Arca-Type Quick Release System
A lens-specific "lens plate" is required. You can use the GLM-2 plate (for 200mm, 300mm, 400mm lenses) offered by Custom Brackets. In addition, the Arca-Swiss type quick release base allows it to be used with any of the many "Arca-Swiss type" plates, available from Arca-Swiss, Foba, NPC, Novoflex, etc.
Ergonomically Designed Knobs
All knobs are aluminum and captive, leaving no chance of losing or breaking them.
