ART ARTS8 Reviews

Works great!

I ordered this a week before a show where we needed to set-up a monitor mixing console for the artist. We ran all of the inputs into two of these and then split them to FOH and Monitors. Utilizing phantom power worked well and we didn't run into any issues.

Great unit!

Well built, clean and transparent sounding. I bought 2 and use them in a rack to split off 16 channels of audio for our monitor mixes before sending the signals to FOH.

question

Under outputs it says:XLR Direct Output x8 XLR Transformerless Output x8What's the difference between direct and transformerless?
Asked by: Daniel B.
The direct outs are a straight thru connection of the input, whereas the transformer less outputs, use electronics to create a duplicate of the direct out, the electronics simulate a transformer. The directs are connected to the main mixer, and will pass phantom power to the microphones. The transformer less will not. From the manufacturers viewpoint it is cheaper to make the electronics to produce the duplicate then it is to test and match transformers.

question

I'm also looking for the flexibility to use it as a line level input. It main emphasis is mic. But I see a pad of -29 dB. Will this unit work for line level (synth, +4 dB line out from sound recorders)?
Asked by: T-Spect
I have used it with a Keyboard Line Level out using the pad switch. One line out of the mic splitter was going to a live mixer the other line out was going to an audio interface and DAW for recording. I would very well. Dan
