PROTÉGÉ from NOTION Music is a music composition and performance software program, featuring a score-based interface and sound library. It is based on its larger sibling, the NOTION program with the same built-in London Symphony Orchestra sounds, but with an otherwise reduced feature set.
Its main strength lies in being able to play back a wide range of optional orchestral performance files through its software. An "NTempo" feature allows a second person to control the tempo of the performance in real-time. This feature is great for the practicing student or professional, since it provides a "real-time" performance, as opposed to the mechanical reproduction of a regular sequencer.
The software also comes equipped with a built-in audio mixer, which provides the ability to adjust volume, decay and panning of each individual instrument. Scores and NTempo sessions can be saved to WAV format files, and NOTION scores can be opened from within PROTÉGÉ, but cannot be re-saved.
