Trijicon Bright & Tough Reviews

Awesome sights

I use this product on my S&W M&P 40, replacing the dull stock sights. With the old sights I was hitting low and could not see the sights in low light or no light scenarios. Since the front sight is smaller and more compact it actually improved the accuracy of my pistol. I was looking at all kinds of differnt sights prior to purchasing these because I did not know what to expect. The gas filled tubes actually stay luminated, unlike other sights that glow in the dark only after light has been applied. I highly recommend these sights if you are hitting low with your gun or do a lot of low/no light firing.

Trijicons work well in M&P .45!

I have a habit of changing the sights out on all of my potential personal defense handguns to night sights. I have switched at least 10 pair of sights to night sights. I have installed Trijicon, MeproLight, and PT NightSights. I have to say the Trijicon night sights tend to have the sharpest glowing dot of the three. They provide a good 'combat' sight picture and make target aquisition easy, for me. It is nice that Trijicon makes sights with different color rear sights for easier aiming in very low light situations as well. This is the second set of Trijicons I've put on an M&P. The first set was purchased 2 months earlier from a different retailer. Both purchasing experiences were good. HOWEVER, I noticed that the set of M&P night sights I am reviewing seemed just a shade darker, or 'older', than the other set I picked up. This is one of only two downsides for me about Trijicon sights in particular, and night sights in general: they become less bright over time. Admittedly, I have both Trijicons and the other major brand that are still functional and are 8-9 years old. Also, Trijicon will install new vials in your existing sights when they go out: that's pretty good. The other concern about night sights in general? Fragility. They are fine with firing the gun. However, I did have a set 'die' on me when I dropped a pistol onto the carpet from about 4' in the house. The pistol landed on the sights and it 'popped' the vials. As a result of the fragility it is best to have a gunsmith install them-adding to the cost. Lastly, this style of Trijicons is 'novak-esque', in the old style. What this means is that the front angle of the rear sight is, well, angled. This makes it look smooth and makes it more difficult to perform a one-handed racking of the slide to clear a malfunction in an emergency. Personally, I am not worried about this. Trijicon is a very good product and these sights work as well for me as the original in daylight, and they WORK at night-unlike the original. I don't hesitate to spend my hard-earned cash on them.
