ZEISS 1454-509 Overview

This dedicated ZEISS Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with 100mm f/2 Z-series SLR lenses.

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. This dedicated lens hood is designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

Solid Construction

I got this as a replacement hood for my Zeiss ZE 100mm f/2 Makro Planar lens after I accidentally damaged my original hood.

Great Shade

I squished my original shade and although it still mounted on the Zeiss 100mm lens, it was no longer possible to store it over the lens. This is constructed well; all metal with anti glare matte material inside. Pricey but necessary.
