The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP AF Di Macro Lens for Nikon AF is for use with all Nikon AF cameras and boasts high resolving power and sharp image depiction with ideal background blur, making it the ideal lens for close-up and portrait photography. With emphasis on portability, this macro lens is compact and lightweight. A wide, smooth focusing ring makes delicate manual focusing in the macro mode easy and precise.

This lens has been re-designed to include a built-in motor to operate the auto focus system because some Nikon cameras do not provide mechanical linkage to the lens gearing for auto focus.

Di (Digitally Integrated Design) is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to also meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras. The Di design is achieved by applying a new optical multi-coating to its element surfaces.

Provides life-size 1:1 macro images

90mm f/2.8 SP AF Di Macro Lens for Nikon AF is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 171.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ignore negative reviews! I acquired this lens through a friend that got it and never used it for $250. Which is a steal in my opinion but I couldn't argue with him. I have been using this lens for 2 years now with no issues what so ever on my D-7000 and D-300. I am an avid adventurist traveling all over the lower 48 and this lens holds up very nicely. Im big into insects and usually shoot at or above F8 with very elegant DOF. F2.8 is okay but get ready for a photo that is sharp on one single plain. I recommend flash is free handing which I do most of, insects are not to fond of tripods. This lens is an all around great lens!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens As others here have said, this is a great macro lens. I'm using it almost exclusively for insect macro photography and it produces very sharp pictures with great-looking background rendering (bokeh). One problem is that it doesn't handle dirt too well. After about a year and a half of moderate use, some very annoying dust particles have crept into the inner lens elements. One of these particles shows up as a tiny blurry spot on my pictures now. I'll either have to photoshop my pictures from now on, look into a lens cleaning service, or replace the lens. But overall, I'd totally recommend the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm very impressed by Tamron I'm not going to waste your time on the quality and amazing photo results of this lens. You can read all about that all over the Internet. I was so excited to get this lens, and it easily surpassed my expectations. Sure, the AF is slow and noisy, but why use it? True macro photography demands a different level of skill and patience. Sure, focusing will extended the lens, but for half the price of the Nikon 105mm VR (after rebate), it's a steal. ... I'm hesitant when it comes to 3rd party lenses (I did own a Tokina 12-24mm. Excellent wide angle!), but it's been such a positive experience for me so far. Kudos to Tamron!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surpassed all my expectations! SHARP!!! This lens is truly amazing. I'm a Nikon guy, and will sometimes shy away from third party lenses, but Tamron really hit it out of the park with this one. It has awesome creamy bokeh, and is nice and fast at f/2.8. Wonderful color rendition and contrast, and so so so very tac sharp! I couldn't be any more pleased with the optics of this lens. Awesome for macro, but at 2.8 it takes some very nice portraits too. The lens does extend quite a bit when focusing close, but I don't mind it too much. Focusing seems to be quite fast, and the focus limit switch can make it even faster. The bottom line is that if you want superior optics at an affordable price, this is the lens for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice macro lens This lens is great for macro photography and can also be used as a normal 90mm lens. Good quality for the price and great picture quality. It fills the gap between the shorter and longer size macro lens on the market and is an ideal lens for the photographer that doesn't want to haul the much bigger and heavier 180mm macro around. Fits in a backpack without adding a lot of weight. Would definitely recommend this lens to anyone wanting an all-around macro that is good in a wide range of conditions. Can also be used with a tele-extender for even closer macro shots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value, good lens I use this lens primarily for macro. Image quality is at least as good or better than my old Micro Nikkor 200mm f/4 AI-S (manual focus lens) and has much less chromatic aberration. The autofocus works well and the magnification goes to 1:1. The only real negative for me is that at 1:1 the front of the lens is only about 4 from the subject. This is not a problem for inanimate things, but not so good for critters that spook or things you can't get that close to. However, it is a great value and is optically very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Macro Lens I was pretty much determined on buying the Tokina Macro Lens until i was talked into buying Tamron 90mm instead. i was a little worried at first but when got it, took my first few shots with it, i must say that this is one of my best lens. It's well built, a great macro and portrait lens. It's affordable compared to the Nikon one. I have the Nikon d90 and didn't have any problems with it so far. It does great bokeh which i'm a sucker for. It takes very sharp pictures. The only possible problem which i really don't consider a problem is when you're very very close to the subject, the auto focus gets annoying but who really uses auto focus when taking macro shots. Lastly, let me just say I'm very very happy with this purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine product Love this lens! I had been waiting for a Canon 500D lens to convert a travel lens to macro work, but finally gave up and bought the Tamron 90mm. What a crisp image. Most of my shots are spontaneous and hand held, so while a Nikon with VR might have made more sense, I am completely satisfied. I have added a Velbon Mag Slider rail to my tripod and am working for even finer detail of plants and insects. My only concern so far is that the manual focus ring seems a little lacking in resistance which I hope doesn't eventually lead to lens creep. A UV filter makes it easier to keep the recessed lens clean.
