We use this to hold up a teleprompter setup and our large Sony camera. I recommend this quality product
Very easy to push over flat surface. Not recommended for uneven surface such as tile floor, uneven blacktop or cracks. Well built, very easy to insert and lock in tripod legs. I'm very happy with this Dolly system and highly recommended.
This product was very easy to use and very easy to setup. Worked exactly how we wanted to use it. Was perfect for repoing the camera during a live show.
This is a pretty good dolly. Not too heavy. Folds into a small package. Smooth rollers. As other reviewers pointed out, this is not for thick carpet. The brakes are very secure but low to the ground. It has a good look and feel.
It's very hard to control the movement of this dolly. I used it once (on a flat surface). Never again. You have to get a running start to get the wheels to go in the right direction, then you might get 2 seconds of stable video before it drifts in the wrong direction.
This dolly is built well and adapted well to my Diawa Slik DST 73 video tripod (also from B&H). I did have to use surgical rubber to insure positive lock to the tripod feet but was expecting that as this is a Manfrotto product and plan to get a Manfrotto tripod for it in the future when budget allows. But...it works well on smooth surfaces. We are making adaptor plates to mount 6 inch pnuematic tires to it for smoother movement on uneven surfaces such as deep/rough pile carpeting, concrete with cracks and asphalt parking lots. With current castors is easy to move and lock positively in place when shooting on smooth floors and adapts well to moving shots you'd expect to use a rail camera dolly for too!
The 181B is not made for the Celestron tripod. One can still use the 181B....and it's a very high quality apparatus.
I got this to move my tripod around in a studio environment and, for that purpose, it is outstanding. It unfolds easily and set up is a breeze as the tripod legs just 'slot in' - no thumb screws or anything. The pedal brake is ingenious and allows the whole rig to sit rock solid on the floor with a single flip. A reverse flip then allows it to roll again. The build is strong and the wide base inspires confidence when putting expensive equipment on it. Recommended.
