    Manfrotto 520BALL reviews

    520BALL 75mm Half Ball is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adds Versatility The 520Ball adds versatility to any Manfrotto tirpod with a 75mm half bowl. I have a panoramic head attached to the 520Ball that enables me to quickly swap out the video head that came with my 535MPRO tripod. This enables one tripod to serve multiple purposes. This product is solid and appears to be well made. Only takes a couple of minutes to swap out heads. The length of the handle is ideal for quickly leveling the tripod head. The only negative is the movement of the half ball in the tripod bowl is not as smooth as I would like and not as smooth as the half ball on the Manfrotto 519 video head that came with the tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it needs to do perfectly. I purchased this 75mm half ball adapter so I could put various tripod heads on various legs. The most notagble being a 3' slider that I attached directly via the 3/8 threaded screw. I works great, and allows me to attach my slider to one set of legs but have a ablilitty very quickly level the slider and lock it down. The bottom lock in tight enough that there is zero movement, even then the camera is a the farthest point of the slider. This has made my slider set up's so much faster and has also allowed me to used some of my 3/8 tripod heads on my nicer 75mm bowl legs. Comes in handy many times already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enables a Versatile Field Configuraiton Exactly what I was looking for. I use this with my existing Manfrotto 546B Tripod. I add a Kessler Crane Quick Release base to the half ball and on my Kessler Steath Slider. Next, I add Kessler Quick release utility plates to both the bottom of a 502 Video Head and the bottom of the Slider. With the QR and half ball installed on the tripod, I can quickly switch between mounting the video head or the slider on the tripod. And with the slider mounted on the tripod and the video head mounted on the slider, I can quickly remove the slider from the tripod to use as stand alone slider. This item has allowed me to complete my vision for a versatile field support system.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not As Solid As I'd Like This Half Ball is easily tightened or loosened for quick leveling. Problem is, it seems to get loose a little TOO easily, and I have found the position of the camera mount changing when I didn't want it to - do to slippage of this half ball.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A perfect solution It is simple and easy to use. We built our own all terrain slide and wanted to easily move our Manfrotto heads from tripod to slide without having to pull out a screwdriver. A Manfrotto tripod head part was the perfect solution. We secured it to the slide plate, over a hole large enough to insert the half ball. We can quickly move from tripod to all terrain slide in the time it takes to unscrew the handle from the ball. We did have to upgrade all our tripods to 75mm from 60mm. But the convenience was worth the trade up costs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 520BALL Does Its Job I shoot mainly video and recently purchased the Manfrotto 546B tripod, but already had a Manfrotto 501 head (which does not have a ball...it is flat). Since the 546B has a bowl for heads with balls, my 501 was basically useless. So instead of shelling out more money for a new compatible tripod, I got the 520Ball. This allowed me to use the 501 head on the new set of legs and it works absolutely great. I have not used it yet in any long shoots, but it has performed exceptional during any tests so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another solid product by Manfrotto. Does exactly what you would expect. Converts a 3/8 tripod head to a 75mm bowl for use on a video tripod. Works perfectly for my application. Very solid design and construction. Easy to adjust and very secure when tightened down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slider complete This is perfect for mounting a slider (Edelkrone in this case) directly to tripod instead of attaching it to the head. Well built, Manfrotto quality. Good buy.
