The Hitachi KP-E500 is an industrial grade CCTV camera that uses a special EM-CCD (Electronic Multiplication) sensor along with sophisticated electronic controls to increase its sensitivity to light by a factor of 100x as compared to a conventional camera. The results are properly exposed images with minimal amounts of noise even when monitoring areas containing virtually no visible light. This level of light sensitivity makes it an obvious choice for use in day and night security installations, with poorly lit factory automation equipment or in light constrained medical applications.
Electrical Multiplication CCD (EM-CCD)
Rather than using an Image Intensifier Tube - susceptible to burn in, afterimage-lag and a short life span - this camera makes use of Electron Multiplication technology to achieve high sensitivity in light levels next to zero lux.
Thermoelectric EM-CCD Cooling
A thermoelectric system is used to keep the EM-CCD from overheating, and together with the camera's advanced DSP function ensures well illuminated images with a high signal to noise ratio.
