question

How well does this gimbal work when mounted on a mono-pod?
Asked by: Anonymous
While gimbals work best on tripods, the Manfrotto 393 Heavy Duty Gimbal Type Telephoto Lens Support can be mounted onto a monopod and would offer similar ease-of-movement compared to use on a tripod. As a monopod is not free-standing and requires you to hold the monopod with one hand, you may need a little practice in setting/changing monopod height while then trying to position the camera, but it can be done, and as the gimbal is supporting the weight of the lens and allowing for freedom of movement, it will simply take a few minutes of practice to become accustomed to a system that works for you.

Can the Manfrotto BeFree Color Aluminium Travel Tripod hold the item + fuji x-T30 body + Fuji 100-400 lens?
Asked by: Eran
I suppose it would work but I think there are much better tripods to support that setup. I would recommend the Manfrotto Befree Advanced travel tripod, item # MAMKBFRLA4BK or the Benro FTA18, item # BEFTA18AB0 .

Is the manfrotto 393 compatible to use with manfrotto tripod 190 and arca plate?
Asked by: Roberto
The Manfrotto Heavy Telephoto Lens Support with Quick Release Adapter and Plate will mount on the Manfrotto 190go! Aluminum Tripod without issue. However, this is not an Arca Swiss plate. You could add this Sunwayfoto Arca & Manfrotto Compatible Clamp B&H # SUMAC14 to the quick release.

question

Does the QR accept the black RAPID-SCREW to use it with the shoulder straps if not on pod?
Asked by: Wolfgang L.
No, it will not. The BlackRapid FastenR-T1 is designed for use with the Manfrotto 200PL-14 QR Plate, while the Manfrotto Heavy Telephoto Lens Support uses the RC3-type quick release plate.

What is the inside distance between the vertical parts of the "U" shaped cradle? Thinking of mounting my 20x100 giant binoculars if this space is wide enough. Thanks.
Asked by: Craig
The inside distance between the vertical parts of the "U" shaped cradle is exactly 7+1/16th inches. Btw, great product . . . I have two (one for heavy telephoto, the other for large spotting scope, thus avoiding the need to change mounts at critical viewing moments).
