Manfrotto 262 overview

  • 1Description

The Manfrotto 262 Nikon Flash Adapter converts a 1/4"-20 flash accessory into a shoe mount, and allows off-camera shoe cords like the Nikon SC-17, SC-28, and SC-29 to be mounted upon brackets that only feature a 1/4"-20 screw. It is also popular for use as a "sacrificial" shoe mount to put under an off-camera cord which already has a shoe underneath, so that wear & tear occurs upon this piece as opposed to the more fragile and expensive cord itself.

Replaces old part number 3298.

262 Nikon Flash Adapter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from If Only.... I resorted to this adapter after the Wimberley FA-11 Adapter Plate failed to hold my speedlight on the bracket. At first I was finally confident that my speedlight would not fall off my bracket, but halfway through a location shoot, the screw worked itself loose even after tightening it with a screwdriver. I tried a couple of more times, but the screw continually worked itself loose each and every time. Had I tightened it anymore, it would have imbedded itself right into my speed light. I finally gave up and resorted to hand holding my speedlight. It's going back. I would not recommend this adapter either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adapts Nikon Flash cord to slide This product works to adapt your nikon flash cord to slide on instead of screw on whatever your want to attach the cord to. In my case, I wanted to use it on a large softbox and there was no way to screw the cord on the holder for the softbox and the way the Nikon cord is designed as it can only be used with a screw. The screw on this adaptor screws into the bottom of your flash cord between the silver metal part and you can then slide the silver metal part onto whatever you are attaching it to. I made sure I carried a screwdriver on my wedding shoot, so that I could un-screw it off, when I needed to change it off my softbox and re-attach it to my flash bracket as the cord can screw on my flash bracket as originally designed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Short Grip It was a recommended accessory for a flash bracket. It could serve a purpose in the third mounting hole in the bracket, because that hole (nearest the hinge)is only a quarter-inch thick and overlays the handle, so you can't place a screwhead from the underside. That said, the adapter has minimal gripping power, so it is very loose and twists so it could loosen or at least not standup to the momentum of a camera or a flash cord with a springy coil. Would have to be used for mounting light objects with an assist from gaffer tape.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must for most off shoe cords This is a must if you have any type of off shoe cord with a plastic base on it. You might get away with out one with a light flash, however if you have a heavy one just buy it. This product in my opinion is over priced for a 30 cent washer and 15cent screw. B&H has it priced competitively against their competers, however the company that makes it is charging way to much in my opinion. This is still a must to have with the off shoe cords with plastic bases, I can not repeat that enough. Also do not even bother to try to get by cheaper by going to the hardware store and find a work around, I spent enough time finding out that will not work. Just go ahead and buy one, I have one for every off shoe cord.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but incomplete A good way to add a shoe foot to a Nikon SC-17, 28, 29 etc. sync cord. It's very well made. One thing it's missing however, is a 1/4 tooth lock washer to keep the foot from loosening up & twisting. A 10 cent lock washer can be found at your local hardware store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid attachment for accessories I bought this adapter after purchasing a similar product off a popular auction site. Unlike the one I bought off the auction site, this adapter holds solid to the base of accessory and doesn't spin loose when the flash cord tugs on it. I've used this with a SU-800, SB-600, and SC-28. Mounted on flash stands and on a Stroboframe. Don't bother trying to DIY or go with cheap(er) imitations - I wish I bought this first before I tried those methods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY NEEDED IF YOU HAVE A NIKON CORD FOR OFF CAMERA USE. YOU MUST HAVE THIS PRODUCT FOR USE ON YOUR STROBOFRAME BRACKET. IT IS NEEDED. CAN'T USE THE CORD WITHOUT IT. SO SPENT THE $
