  • 1Description

The Kirk WM-2 Multi-Purpose Window Mount is a versatile, heavy-duty, multi-purpose window mount that offers convenience and versatility to the pro photographer shooting inside and around a vehicle.

The WM-2 is made of solid black anodized 6061T6 aluminum, with rubber-covered feet and easy-to-grip controls. The mount features a main body that folds double which, in addition to its regular use as a window mount, gives it the added flexibility that allows it to be used as a sturdy "lowpod" for resting on a table, car roof, or flat rock.

The mount comes with a 3/8" screw, and accepts (and requires) any standard tripod head that features a 3/8" threaded socket.

The feet extend and retract for added stability and easier transportation
Stainless and brass hardware, with all-aluminum knobs
All feet are rubber coated to avoid scratching

    Kirk WM-2 reviews

WM-2 Multi-Purpose Window Mount for Tripod Head (Requires Head) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent mount with one caveat. Well made. Well finished. Excellent craftsmanship. Sturdy. Should last a lifetime with minimal care. Mounts solid in my Ford Edge. My only real issue is that you have limited horizontal range when using a gimbal mount. The window clamping section is high enough to prevent the gimbal from rotating through 360 degrees. In fact you only get about 140 degrees of rotation. When using a ball head or pan and tilt head this is not a problem. I am now searching for a 2 spacer to lift my gimbal heads so they can clear the window clamping mechanism. Without this issue, I would give it a 5 star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a bean bag Like many other nature photographers I use my vehicle as a mobile blind. I use large telepoto lenses including the Nikon 600 f4 and 200-400 f4 - usually with teleconverters. The Kirk WM-2 and a Wimberly WH-200 provide an easy to set up, stable platform for shooting from the window. The window bracket is solidly attached and the feet grip the inside of the door increasing the stability considerably. It holds my 600 attached to a D700 and allows me to drive over fairly rough roads in my SUV without having to detach the lens. It has the usual outstanding Kirk build quality. It can also easliy be used as low pod on the hood or even on the ground. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't know why I waited so long I've had this on the back burner for way too long and just bought it a week ago. I'm currently in Jackson Hole WY and testing a very heavy Phase One 240 LS and Schneider 2x extender and quickly found that my normal window mount was a wimp. Ordered this and the very first day I could tell how great it is. The 2-point system of locking the bracket down (window and door) makes it feel as sturdy as my tripod. Very sturdy and super easy to set up and with the added bonus of a ground pod for spring flowers makes this a huge keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing equipment addition! Living on the Gulf Coast, there are lots of Wildlife Refuges with auto tour and several Birding Trail highways and by-ways. With this amazing equipment, I am now able to get right up on wildlife without them being disturbed or fleeing because I never have to open the car door. Just park the car at the right angle and shoot away. I haven't owned a better engineered and specific purpose built piece of photographic equipment. Game Changing AMAZING!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for photography, not for video This is an exceptionally well designed and built product. I was using it with a Canon 500mm lens and it held the lens beautifully - very stable mount. I could even open and close the door (gently of course) with the mount and lens attached and never was I concerned that it would fall off or move around. If you're doing wildlife photography from your car and you want to leave your camera up and ready for longer periods, this is the perfect product. The only problem encountered was with video. I used it with my 5D MkII for video and just couldn't get a perfectly stable, static shot. The connection to the window/door always managed to pick up some kind of slight vibration or wobble (engine was off and I even tried not breathing). I'd try the exact same shot on a tripod on solid ground and no problem. Of course, this was with the 500mm where slight vibration or movement is way more noticeable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great window mount...and more Solid mount for shooting from the car as well as a really versatile low platform. I haven't had it for very long but it certainly appears to be a well made piece of equipment built with durability in mind.
