Kirk QRC-1.0 overview

  • 1Description

The Kirk QRC-1 Quick Release Clamp is a 1" long clamp that is compatible with all Arca Swiss-type plates and mounts. The clamp is made of lightweight aluminum and stainless steel construction, to provide long-lasting dependability. No internal mechanisms are exposed, and this clamp engineered with safety stop relief grooves that provide improved versatility when mated with Kirk camera plates. Kirk plates are designed so that they will slide halfway across the clamp before stopping, giving you greater control without sacrificing flexibility.

Just one quarter turn of the locking knob allows the camera mounted to the plate to be easily adjusted along its path or, if the safety stops are not used, to be removed entirely from the side. A full turn allows the camera to be removed from the top.

Captive stop screws and mounting screw
No exposed internal mechanisms

    Kirk QRC-1.0 reviews

QRC-1 Quick Release Clamp for Arca-Type Plates - 1" Base is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome with Black Rapid Connector! Attach this beauty to your Black Rapid FastenR-2 or 3 (or the original ConnectR) and voila, you can easily move your strap between different sides of a L-bracket mounted camera or a lens-foot. (In other words, immediate repositioning where your stap attaches, depending on the lens and its weight and the camera and its configuration - with battery pack or not, etc.) I had considered using some blue loctite but have found my FastenR-3 is so snug against this clamp, I don't need the loctite. Anyway, well made and substantial clamp (as I have found most Kirk products to be).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect size for use with a BlackRapid strap system Using these as the clamps attached to the BlackRapid bolt and the Arca Swiss plates I have attached to my camera bodies. The knob is small enough to attach to the camera facing forward under the lens and still have enough clearance to tighten. The reason for this is when using the BlackRapid strap the camera will be against your hip when not in use and you don't want the knob next to your hip potentially snagging anything and generally being uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it should do I keep this simple clamp permanently attached to the 1/4-20 thread at the end of a BlackRapid shoulder strap, and the clamp is used to attach the strap to Kirk Arca-style plates on all my camera bodies or telephoto lens collars. With a quick turn of the knob the arrangement permits rapid transfer of the camera and its plate from the strap to anther quick release clamp on my tripod. While connected to the strap, the camera-plate/clamp-strap connection feels very secure, and although I am confident that plates will not slip off the Kirk clamp while they hang off the strap, I do use the safety screws on all the plates (which keep the plates from sliding out of the clamp unless the clamp is fully released) just in case the knob on the Kirk clamp accidentally loosens a bit. That seems unlikely, but redundancy in securing the gear while it hangs at the end of the strap seems prudent. The clamp, like all Kirk products I own, shows evidence of precision machining and excellent fit and finish. It does exactly what I need it to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kirk After receiving this clamp I had some doubts about its ability to clamp tightly and maintain a secure grip on my camera due to small amount of bite it had on my camera plate. I called Kirk Enterprizes expressed my concern. The representative assured me the clamp I recieved was a representative sample of the product. He also assured me it would work without any problem. I used the clamp with a spider holster on a five week trip to the south west. The clamp securely held my camera and lens throughout the trip. The camera was a Canon 5D MarkIII. The lens was either a Canon 24-70 2.8 or a 100-400. The clamp and the spider holster performed flawlessly. We took many hikes in Utah Colorado, California, and Yellowstone NP. The clamp held well and never came loose. I highly recommend this clamp for this or similar uses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works very well so far! I bought this clamp to act as an adapter to connect my BlackRapid R7 strap to the Arca-Swiss plate on my 5DII. I found the adapter recipe online - in several different places. For those of us that want to keep our Arca Swiss plates on our cameras full-time, this set up is perfect. Despite being small, the clamp mechanism inspires confidence when torqued up. It locks down tight and is fast to affix and remove. I don't have a heavy setup, just a 5DII + 24-105 so I don't know how it would handle, say, a gripped xD + 70-200 f/2.8 but I would bet it would be fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent as a strap adapter I got this QR clamp to use for quickly attaching and detaching a BlackRapid (or similar) sling strap. The problem with sling straps that attach to the tripod bracket is that if you want to have an Arca-Swiss style bracket attached to your camera, you have to unscrew the sling strap's attachment from the plate before you can mount your camera on a tripod. With this clamp, I have the BR attachment screwed into the socket on the bottom of the clamp. I then attached the clamp to the QR plate. Now, moving from tripod to strap is easily and quickly accomplished.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from small and smooth I got it to mount my Panasonic G7 on a pocket/table top tripod. The QRC screws into the tiny tripods 1/4-20 stud permanently without adding much bulk. The operation and machining a velvety smooth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very simple, works great, a bit limited though this quick release works just like it looks, but i feel it would have been a much better product if only it had a protective stop tooth to avoid the plate from accidentally rolling off in case you didn't screw the lock strong enough. also, depending on how big the base you're mounting this clamp to is, the locking screw might get stopped by what's under it. all in all it's a very simple design that is functional enough but could have been a much better product if only the manufacturer had put a bit more thought into it.
