This is a Lowel DV Creator 55 Kit with TO-83 Case four-light kit. It features one of each of the most popular fixtures in the Lowel line and plenty of light modification accessories for any lighting scheme. It includes the medium-sized TO-83 Hard Kit Case.

The Rifa-Lite EX 55 is a self-contained, 21 x 21", 500W, collapsible, tungsten/halogen soft light that uses the unique umbrella-like Rifa design allowing set-up in 60 seconds or less. Bathe almost anything in luxurious soft light, from talking heads to table-top stills. Its twist-turn socket is removable, and allows the use of several types of bulbs when you order the optional sockets. Its quick-change power cord easily converts for use with professional battery belts, allowing it to work at 12, 14, and 30 VDC in addition to 120 and 230 VAC. It's the perfect complement to today's compact, light-sensitive digital cameras and film stocks.

With its high intensity #2 reflector and prismatic glass, the tiny focusable Pro-Light is more efficient than a Fresnel of equal wattage, yet it gives an exquisite even light with Fresnel-like shadow quality. It can be used as a low-level key or accent light, fill light (with diffusion), or backlight.

The wide focusing range of the Omni-Light makes it a flexible key or back-light. Add diffusion or an umbrella, and it's a soft fill source.

Compact, rugged and versatile, the broad-throw Tota-light can be used with its umbrella or gel frame and diffusion as a soft key, fill, or backlight. With its adjustable reflectors, it can be a smooth and even background light, or point it at the ceiling to raise the ambient (base) light level of a room. Tota-Lights are also widely used for photographic copy work.

Although equipped for 110-120 volts, this kit may be used with 220-240 VAC or 12-30 VDC with the appropriate bulbs and cable adapters which are available separately.

The Rifa EX 55 has a changeable socket, which allows the use of other types of bulbs, including fluorescent screw-ins
The Pro-Light's versatility can be increased by adding a DC adapter cable and swapping its bulb for use as a camera-top fixture
Use the included light modification devices to alter the color, intensity, quality and shape of the light
The medium-sized TO-83 kit case holds everything, including the light stands, for storage and transport

DV Creator 55 Kit with TO-83 Case is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything and more.... I just bought this kit having never purchased a light kit before. I have to say I'm impressed with the quality of the lights and stands that are included in this kit. The equipment is well worth the money for what you get. I really like how the gell holders and gells are included because I don't have to buy them separately. I have used the light kit for two interviews so far and I have to say I'm pleased with its performance. Pros: Soft Box is a good size Larger Stand for the soft box Gells Included Nice Long cables Cables have switches on them Cons: The case is kind of small so its quite hard to fit everything into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flexible kit with minimal weight I bought this to supplement natural light in my documentaries and to light interviews in a naturalistic way. I've used the two tota / one omni kits in the past but having the rifa and pro lights make this one much more flexible. We even managed to light a green screen and interview subject using just this kit and a reflector. The fixtures aren't quite as solid as the Arri kits, but they're much lighter and they break down much smaller, which was the big selling point for me. Also, we use the adapter to put 3 CFL's in the Rifa which is great for minimizing heat and risk of tripping a circuit. The case is pretty tight so if you want to pack many extras in there, you might want to go with the larger case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lights! These are the first lights I've owned so I can't really compare them to anything but they work great! Build quality is solid and the lighting is even and bright. They do get hot though, and in a small room you will definitely notice it, as will your camera. The other reviews regarding the difficulty of packing everything back in once you open the box are correct. A quick picture of the undisturbed contents with my phone helped me get it all back in there after a couple of tries. Also the instructions and gels are under the flap on the inside of the lid of the box. It took me a while to find those haha.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lights are as billed. Case is too small Great little light kit. Good soft light options. Compact kit, although a slightly bigger case would go a long way to alleviating the stress of trying to cram everything back in following the shoot. Perfect for one-man-band scenarios. A few warming gels added to the kit would be a welcome plus - you currently only get a bit of blue and a bit of diffusion. Ships with one lamp per fixture. Spare lamps should be included as well - you get the empty lamp packs, but no spares. Omni lamp pretty difficult to install. As these lights burn pretty hot, many of the accessories created smoke when first attached (tota screen, omni barn doors, etc.), but less of a problem after some use. If you are used to Lowel light kits, this has no surprises.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Illumination in a Case It's all there, soft lighting, the hard edge, key light, fill light. What's nice is that it's so compact, a bit weighty, but worth the heft. For interviews, location shoots, more intimate scenes - this kit is the right choice. The tripods lift high enough for moat demands and the selection of lamps and the choice of fixtures works out well. I would have preferred to get a larger variety of lamps with the kit, but overall it works for me. With a camera in a back pack and the light kit and tripod on a hand truck. I can do by myself, what took two or three people before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still the one after the 2nd time around I film in-house video promotions for our products Simple Cleaning Solution (hardwaterstain.com) and Clear Fusion V (clearfusionv.com). We have also filmed countless video testimonials, and even used to shoot a local TV program on a green screen. We bought this kit about 7 years ago and it worked quite well. Recently someone stole my light kit and after looking around at what's new, I decided this kit was still the best value for what it delivered. This is my second kit, and hopefully my last (tip: never store your lights in an unlocked garage when on vacation. Enough said.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact + Powerful enough for Portraits I was worried it wouldn't generate enough light since I'm using it for still portrait photography against a backdrop, but it seems to be bright enough and having four lights allows me to light the backdrop and subject separately. In my 12x10 home studio room lit only by this kit my camera is at 100 ISO with a 50mm f/1.8 lens and the shutter speed is generally 1/250 - 1/400 depending on light positions and diffusers (about 5 feet from subject). I have ordered a white tota-brella since my setup really needs more diffused light. I also ordered spare bulbs. The kit is very compact and looks like it will travel well. I'll be taking it to two evening weddings next month where I'll use it to give my speedlights a break and setup a mock-photo booth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great kit, case could be more spacious! I am a video professional and I have used a number of different setups and rigs for different lighting needs from stage to still photography. The DV Creator kit is a great baseline lighting setup for any type of scene on camera. Lights are easy to setup and tear down if you are on the go. The hard plastic case that this comes with is good not great and everything fits in it when it first comes, so remember how to squeeze it all back in when you take it out.
