LensCoat LC40056DC overview

  • 1Description

The digital camo Lens Cover for the Canon 400mm f/5.6 Lens from LensCoat is a 100% closed-cell neoprene coat that protects the lens from bumps and scratches. It is useful for nature and outdoor photographers, sports shooters and photojournalists. It provides a thermal barrier, protecting your hands from cold lenses in lower temperatures. The cover is waterproof, providing protection in inclement weather. The Digital Camo is an advanced computer generated camouflage pattern. It is modeled after the U.S. Army's standard-issue ACU pattern, which provides a pixelated pattern that maximizes visual break up. The pattern, constructed from small rectangular pixels of color, mimics naturally occurring dappled textures and rough boundaries.

It is easy to install and remove, leaving no residue on the lens. This cover will also help you preserve the resale value of the lens by protecting it from dust, dirt and other contaminants.

Protects the lens from bumps and scratches
Features a custom hole that reveals the red-dot, making for easy alignment to the camera body without having to remove the cover

    LensCoat LC40056DC reviews

Lens Cover for Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 Lens (Digital Camo) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Product but Totally Overpriced This is a well made product that fits the lens perfectly. It is a fibrous material bound to neoprene. It protects the lens from nicks and bumps. If you use the lens in the woods, this becomes important. The lens becomes less obtrusive to birds and wildlife as well. When I looked at in the package, I was shocked at what you get for almost $80. There are three tubular sections and couple of pieces of stick- on camouflage material. The item looks like it should cost $20 at most. Op-Tech makes similar neoprene- like products but not one specifically for this lens. Their products are not nearly as pricey, so I guess we're paying for that perfect lens fit, not material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks and works great! I wanted a nice looking protective cover for my expensive 400mm 5.6L that I use a lot, and crawl through bushes and trees in order to sneak up on those birds I want to shoot. The LensCoat cover fits very well and the part that covers the extendable hood on the 400 is made to not impair the movement at all. It also covers the buttons and focus distance meter when the hood is retracted which I like. Installation was fast and easy. I have had many compliments out shooting from other photogs. I am going to get another one for my 70-200 F4 IS. I will also be purchasing Lenscoats full camo covers for the lens and camera for total protection when in harsh conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, needs some work Provides good camouflage for parts that are covered. There are even two adhesive strips in the package to cover parts of the tripod collar, but I don't use the tripod collar and now have to walk around with a white band in the middle of the lens. Most of the focusing ring is covered as well, making it harder to manual-focus. The focus ring is black - not much use covering it. The little tag on the hood part always ends up on the top of the lens, which is a bit annoying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well-made, perfect fit This is to protect the lens, which I carry in either a backpack or beltpack with minimal padding. It took a little prodding to slip it over the lens properly, but it is perfectly designed to work with the 400mm f/5/6 lens. It does not interfere with the ability to slide the lens' integrated lens hood back and forth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lens now invisible to wildlife I found this cover easy enough to put on the lens, and it's great that it now comes with the additional piece to cover the part of the lens that's under the retractable hood. Birds seem to spook less now that I'm not flashing a big, white lens in front of them. The cover also adds a degree of protection against bumps. Get one. You'll be glad you did!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This one was disapointing I use my long lenses for wildlike photography. I purchase a Lens Coat for my 300 f4 lens and it works great. IThis one for my 400 5.6 does not cover the white parts of the lens near as well and the strips that are glued on do not stay. I probably won't order another Lens Coat for any other lenses due to this experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for me I use this lens primarily as flight lens for bird photography. Spending all day out in the lens used to get ver warm/hot and uncomfortable to hold, the lenscoat makes holding it now a breeze. I also like that it protects the lens from getting beat up like some of my other lenses that i dont have a cover for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! The pieces went on easily and the new design covers the extra two inches when you extend the built in hood. I feel better knowing that I've got an extra layer of protection...much more at ease if I'm supporting the lens on something with some rough edges or not quite so clean. And I could swear that the birds are less spooked when I raise the lens :-).
